Summary: Someone at Nvidia screwed up and posted the GTX580 as a supported card on their website.

Looks like an interesting development assuming it isn't arse and twaddle.

What if they suggested the 580 to try and put fear into amd into releasing their cards sooner, that way nvidia would know sooner if they needed to rush out a new combat card and get a slight headstart ?

EDIT: Should have looked at the screenshot first lol it quite clearly shows 500 series in the header as well. Thought it was another incident.

They did it to cause threads like this to pop up all over the internet. If it was an accident then it came at a rather crucial time considering it occurred at the time of AMD's 6*** release

Even if it's true, it's an unreleased card so it purely to try and dampen ATI's campaign, and generate some excitement over Nvidia's own products. (Which of course, they are perfectly entitled to do).

I think AMD and Nvidia should just name the cards to match the price nowadays - call it the GTX £580 <g>
