Drinking recepticles, and is my mate retarded?

So if chamagne tastes like wine in a wine glass, does this mean the secret to cheap champagne is to put wine in a champagne glass?

Is he a Southerner? Well regardless he sounds like a pretentious knob.

Oh and drink real ale then the glass don't matter (as long as it's clean!) -bloody lager drinkers... :D

As people have said, Stella glasses are designed to serve up a pint of Stella tasting the best it can be.

It has "marks" or grooves in the bottom which allow a constant flow of co2 bubbles through the drink. Without the co2 bubbling through it, the stella tastes significantly less pleasant and overly sweet. Are you aware Stella Artois goes around teaching people how to pour the perfect pint of Stella?

As for the op's mate, it is fair enough to complain if they have Stella glasses there and don't use them. That to me is a sign of a pub which does not take pride in what they are serving and just dish up any old rubbish.

And as for Champagne flutes, it's purely to keep the surface area reduced and retain the carbonation. Relevant if you drink your champagne slowly as it will be flat before you finish it. Irrelevant if you are going to neck it in a few minutes.

Oh and if you had a perfectly "clean" champagne glass, your champagne would have no bubbles and still go flat.

Plus you are paying for a "premium" lager, you wouldn't expect to go into a Michelin star restaurant and get it served in a McDonalds bag and tray.

They get sent glasses for this very reason, how long does it take for them to wash a glass for you.

The only way to make Stella taste less pleasant, would be to curl one out in the glass. The most horrible 'lager' out there. Truly abysmal.

Saying that, most draught lager is totally appalling in this country.

Imported bottles is the way.

Plus one.

Having the gaul to talk about champagne in wine glasses but also drinks Stella indicates what sort of person you are dealing with.

I'll give him point two, and if he's a bit of a rah I'll grant him point three as well, but point one makes him a pillock.

Sounds like he's got a drinking problem, hohoho.

You don't go to a pub (well not many at least)/event to drink quality beer.

He's a spanner TBH.

Sounds like a constant whiner - ditch him tbh

Only time I've ever had an issue with a glass is regarding Guiness where it really should be in a tulip glass to get the right head, but the idea of being concerned about what type of glass you get when ordering a pint of wifebeater is amusing

Glasses can make a huge difference to the taste of the beer, as they all channel the nose differently. Beer can and should be enjoyed much like a wine, and the nose, shape of the glass, warmth of the glass/beer are all variables that need to be taken into consideration.

He drinks Stella, so all of the above is irrelevant.
