Boot logo has todo its thing before continues to load

Yeah you can disable the GUI boot from within Msconfig but im not sure if this would speed up boot time or not. Never tried it myself.
 
I don't think it waits. I've got 2 SSDs for 2 different systems. One loads into the Windows GUI after the swirly logo has finished and other before. The faster one is a Q6600, but it's probably more down to how fast devices initialise.

That makes sense, as I have quite a few usb devices and 3 hdds/ssd and 3 cards
