Dog got electrocuted last night

Ouch, hotdog.

Just get yourself a new consumer unit. Will be cheaper and better in the long run.

I've only been shocked direct from the mains once and that was quite enough for me. It's a horrible feeling. After my shock my arm was aching from the hand all the way up the inside of my arm to my chest muscle. And then there's the "woah... I don't feel quite right" sensation.

Half a dozen times I think, at my last count anyway! Its not pleasant!

Hope your dog is okay! :)

Emergency vet seemed cheap imo!

My cat injured his back paw a while ago, and he pulled out a few stitches and had to take him to Emergency vet £230 later! :P Cost over £500 in the end but lucky we are insured for the cats. So cost us £0 in the end

I got a shock from the mains once and I know why your dog was feeling sorry for itself. What a thoroughly uncomfortable feeling it was. My arm has gone all funny just thinking about it. Brrrrrrr :(

That must have been a frightening experience for you, and awful for the dog. It's good to hear that he's okay, and I hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Good job you took charge, or the current situation could have been different.
:D

I remember several years ago we went to switch on the lights in the shed and they didn't work. We checked the bulbs and all the wiring. We then followed the mains cable that lead from the house to the shed from the conservatory.

The cable had been completely chewed through. By our bloody rabbit! :D

He was one lucky sod as he must have chewed it in the 30 minutes my dad switched off the mains. Otherwise we would have had a bunny flying backwards across the house! :p

My dog once bit through my laptop cable, the bit before it goes into the transformer so he got the whole 240 volts across his teeth. I heard a bit of a yelp and looked over to see what was happening. He then went at it a second time because clearly the first shock didn't teach him well enough.

He was fine, but he never chews cables any more. :p He does jump out of second floor windows onto patios to get outside though...

Jeeeez. I've touched a plug socket after getting out of the shower once (turning on the TV in my room) and the jolt I got through my arm was enough to drop me. Couldn't imagine the pain from licking exposed wires though.

Sounds like an Honourable Mention for the Darwin Awards, to me.

I was sitting in the lounge last night and the floor lamp behind the sofa started to flicker (normally happens when a cat sits on the switch) but then we it started to buzz loudly.

I quickly pulled the plug out and looked behind the sofa, Sid was leaning against the sofa, fitting and foaming at the mouth

He then collapsed and was fitting for about 5mins, we thought he was a goner but he stood up and staggered around.
Took him to the emergency vets (£140, must get him insured!), he'd burnt his tongue but that was all, major phew

This morning he's got a swollen mouth and is feeling very sorry for himself.

Our fusebox hasn't got a RCD protecting it, so now off to buy RCD sockerts for all exposed wires.

So relieved :)

you mean you're going to get someone to replace those wires or replace the flex (if it's flex) yourself.

If it was me, I'd get your old CU fitted with a new one, I wouldn't want to find anyone on the end of any wire being electrocuted, even with rewirables you're on the wire for 5 seconds longer than you should be.
