Anyone excited for windows phone 7?

I tried the HD7 today... what a cracking OS! So smooth and simple, well done MS! Think I'll get one for my 75 year old Dad tomorrow (The DHD/Streak is a bit too fiddly compared to the HD7, ditto the iPhone)

any of you that have a WM7 phone moving from android? if so, how does it compare?

tbh I'd find it boring after a month or so but as a smartphone that 'just works' it's currently the best OS out there.

Nearly walked in to the o2 shop today and bought a HD7, think I may go back tomorrow and get one! I hope they have them in stock. :)

I am really unsure about which phone to get.

I think the Omnia 7 is the one I want, but can anyone tell me why I should get the HD7 or Mozart of it?

Well I was going to get an iPhone 4 to replace my current 3G but the Omnia 7 has got me quite excited and as my cousin is an Orange employee he got me 30% discount on my line rental (not possible for iPhone) :D

Getting delivered on Saturday so fingers crossed it is a good phone!

The Omnia 7 look's like a great phone, only thing i think that would annoy me is not being able to to input webaddress's into the browser in landscape mode.

Been looking into WP7 and the strangest thing I have found is that it does nor support local sql databases

The current local device options for structured data in Windows Phone 7 are Isolated Storage and XML files.
Otherwise you will need to work with a non local (cloud) DB service, such as a server hosting SQL, etc. And then use Push Notifications and/or web requests.

Seems a strange descision by microsoft as so many barcode scanners are running 6.5

I was tempted to get the O2 PAYG HD7 but see as we can't sell phones on here nor on AVF anymore I would have to sell my Desire on ebay and I don't trust them or there Paypal monkey minions !

Not really, 6.5 is still supported, and available for use in new devices that are not phones. Windows Mobile and windows Phone are now two separate products.

Mobile is for mobile devices, and will continue to be based on windows CE. I think they will probably drop the "mobile" and just refer to it by its CE version number from now on. Especially now CE6 is available and is much more modern.

You wont be finding windows phone 7 on your handheld symbol scanners/POD/POS type machines :D

In the sound settings (turn ringtone off) is the only one I've found.

An oled desire running 2.2 is better than the HD7, unless your gaging for the 4.3" screen/smooth and simple OS.

Downloaded the 100 push-ups app and it keeps giving my a licensing issue and wont finish the install, things like this should be sorted before it's been put on the marketplace really.
