Hi Guys,

Was planning to do a new weekend build of my PC and ordered all the new bits for a Saturday delivery. Just got the delivery and it turns out I was sent the 125w version of the 1055T.

Have spoken to support and they are happy to replace it but if I send it back Monday they won't get it until Tuesday/Wednesday and then I won't get the correct one until the end of the week.

My question is should I just keep the 125W one and get on with the build?

I am using a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H AMD 890GX mobo with Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz RAM.

I am not looking for an extreme OC but 3.8 would be nice.

Is that still possible with the 125W version and what other downsides are there in keeping the 125W version?

Cheers
XG

Agreed - you paid for it, it's not what you ordered so send it back.

the 95w will handle the temps of an oc better therefore you may even get 4.0 out of it :)

Many thanks guys. Return arranged.

You know what's it like. I am dying to get the system up and running and had planned my weekend around building and testing. Will just have to sit here and look at all the other bits I got until the new CPU arrives :-(

Not to be funny, but if you've been sent the wrong part the error is not on your side and they should be sending out the correct chip at their cost and do a direct swap at your front door. You shouldn't have to wait a week.

how did you buy a 95w edition by itself anyway? You can only obtain the 95w edition with a system or motherboard bundle.

Not quite, I know of several that have been bought from competitors... And do OCUK not have the 95w version for sale? I see you can add it to your basket and proceed to checkout dispite the red warning
This CPU is only available as part of a bundle or full PC System
Didn't buy it though. Do you have a system to catch such orders? :)

Also, why do AMD restrict the sale of what is/sure to be a hugley popular chip?

a lot of other companies have got into deep trouble with AMD forsellign them seperatly.

Not entirely sure of the reason myself, it would be a lot better if we could sell it seperatly!

send it back, and also express delivery since it is there fail and you should not have to wait any longer for a new item, and who knows you might ask for compensation also since you would be out of a system until they get there act together...

Means nothing to me, he didn't follow through the instructions..

Except you can't just send the customer a product he didn't order, especially when he's paid a higher price for a different one.

Anyways as the OP said he's got the offer of sending it back which I think he should take :)

A few more days to wait for a better part :)

Same could be said about a customer ordering something he's not supposed to.
There's always 2 sides.
The correct action and also the only really allowed action would be a refund of the 95W to 125W part, given he can't have the 95W chip without AMD kicking off.

Oh hello my own 95W :p

you'll get 4.0 out of a 1055t 125w easy..;) but you are right he paid for the 95w so send it back.

I've only clocked one 125W 1055T and getting it to 4GHZ was far from easy.
11.5 x 350 was stable.
