the new jap scrap. 4WD content within

Op, lovely looking Evo. Granted the sideskirts are a bit marmite and if it was mine I'd be putting the mirrors back to stock before it went on the road. but those and the other modifications are all down to the subject's perspective on what is good / bad!

Having previously owned a 200bhp+ 4wd rice rocket myself (Pulsar Gtir) I'm well aware of the smile it will put on your face and wish you all the best and safe driving with it :)

Skyline was only made cool cos of gran turismo and fast and furious

I do hope to god that you are joking?

The GTR had achieved cult status long before either of those things.

Don't want to turn this into Everyone Vs Japanese Motoring Icon because it'll **** off Smokey, but please lads let's not talk rubbish.

Nonsense. I bet hardly anyone in the UK would have known what you were talking about if you asked them about a Skyline GTR before the days of GT.

So? It helped exposure, it didn't make an otherwise rubbish car cool. It's not like the Evo is completely innocent, who would give a stuff about them without the success in Rallying.

The rave press reviews, utter dominance in every racing series it touched and immense potential for modifications made it "cool", not a game that it just happened to be in.

I wanted a R33 GTR long before I got my copy of Gran Turismo :).

The "Apocalypse Clarkson" video I got for what I think was Christmas of 97 was what I can remember really sparking my interest it them. GT wasn't released until 98, So yeah, I wanted one at 6 :).

no he said

Skyline was only made cool cos of gran turismo and fast and furious

which implied it was only made because of Gran Turismo.

Which it wasnt. It had cult status in Japan long before GT. But yes GT did help it reach popularity in the UK, but that had nothing to do with why it was made.

For some reason I've always thought that evos/scooby's are good for speed/handling.

And Supra's/Skylines are good for fast straight line speed. Even though the Skyline R34 can handle like a dream, especially "Mine's 600bhp" version.

Tbh Jap Cars are very good, they know how to engineer some fantastic cars. I prefer old 80's/90's Jap cars. Even though some of them do look dated, some of them have fantastic engines and road handling. And you can pretty much modify any bit of them since parts are available.

However, only problem is, once they're in the UK the some of the people who end up owning them can't maintain them. Which is a major let down. :(

i should have made my post more clear , lol , i know skylines had cult status in japan before gt and f+f , but really thats what made them even more popular over here

He said "made cool" not "made" which would be ridiculous!

Nice car, the only thing I don't like personally are the numberplates but they won't detract from the fun of driving it. ;)
