I note that you did not say, "I am on a late tonight", you used the past tense. So I presume you finished work got home safely and then posted this. That suggests to me that this girl was going out with Mr Gobby. Where were his posse that were supposed to be waiting for you? Perhaps they just jilted him like she did.

Tell the Police anyway making sure to remind them that he has form. If its for violence they will peg him. But looking at things so far I suspect it was more likely to be shoplifting from Primark that he got done for.

It's a clear threat and you have reason to take it seriously. You also have proof of the threat. Time to get the police involved. He might indeed be going back to jail for you - threatening behaviour can result in imprisonment.

EDIT: Unless, of course, you have a spear and shield. Then Greenlizard0's suggestion is much better.
