Clearing away your own rubbish.

I wasn't being condescending, I've geniuenly never heard of that before.
Do you tip the waiter aswell or not bother since you're doing half their work?

Or if you're talking about Mcd's and such then fair enough, I always stick the stuff in the bin and tidy the tray away, but in a restaurant nope.

I always take my rubbish with me. Obviously, spilled popcorn and stuff has to stay where it is, but drinks and boxes/packets get binned on the way out.

I hate littering in general and just because I know someone will clean the cinema after it doesn't mean I find it appropriate to just leave my rubbish behind.

I can't stand it when I see a kid at school just drop their litter on the floor expecting a dinner lady to pick it up "cos they're paid to do it". What a stupid (and arrogant) thing to say, really irks me.

/edit: I don't stack plates at restaurant (not a fast food place), but we don't really leave a mess either.

If someone fudges up the manager takes it out of the tips money. Personally I consider it both stealing from the staff AND betraying the customers who left the tips.

Deduct from wages as appropriate, but tips money never belonged to the management, so it's just plain wrong.

I just leave the rubbish. If an employee doesn't like cleaning up which is apart of their job, then they should consider quitting.

People don't make my life easy, I won't make theirs. It's a vicious circle in this world, and you just have to get used to it.

I'm a hotel night porter. And yeah it all goes in the tips jar, which should be divided amongst all staff at the end of each month. Except where the management decide to get their greasy fingers in there first. :/

Indeed. People think it's OK to leave litter around as it's not their problem - someone will clean it up.

I think it is socially acceptable to leave the litter in Cinemas. You don't wash your own dishes in a restaurant do you?

That's not a particularly accurate analogy. You do put your rubbish away in McDonalds, however - or at least I hope you do

To a certain degree, its messy and rude to leave rubbish but on the other hand, people often have all the bins outside the big heavy doors and its fairly inconvinient to carry a whole bunch of rubbish though a heavy door with lots of people in the way, while its easier for the staff, with a bin bag, walk through and pick it all up.

Funny how it wasn't inconvenient at all for people to carry the food into the room, but once we factor in empty, lightweight boxes and suddenly it's become a herculean task!

You should be glad these people leave a mess gives you a reason to be at work earning money. Suck it up and get on with it.

So do every other employee. If there were no cleaning needed to be done, then someone will be out of a job as they won't need the twice as many staff to cover every task required.

It only takes so many people in a shift to fulfill the daily requirements, take some away means less people needed!

I got charged £20.20 for the priviledge of seeing Saw on Saturday, nevermind the extorionate price for a drink as well. For that kind of money I'd should be expecting a female member of staff to have one of her fingers up my bumhole and be fellating me as I watch said film, so excuse me if I leave my cup or a empty bag of sweets in a cupholder.

My bin man usually comes every Thursday, but to be polite save them wheeling my bin around to the truck and emptying it, I usually visit the local cinema on Orange Wednesday the night before and take my rubbish with me. Saves the hassle for the bin men, and it is a nice way to dejunk my house. Left an old fridge in the cinema once.

I work part time in a cinema and don't understand why 90% of the people leave their rusbbish spread out on the floor, in the cup holders or stuffed down the back of the seat despite there being 18 bins.

Do you do it when out?! If not... Reconsider.

I must say, I don't take my rubbish with me, however, thanks to this thread, I will do next time.

Usually, I just put everything together and leave it all in one place. I usually see staff in there cleaning before and after the film. So I naturally assumed that it was their job to tidy up in the screen. I won't do it next time though
