what is your biggest waste of money

All the money/work I did on the house that I eventually had to give to my Ex in the divorce.

That sucks.

I was having this conversation with some friends, we're only in our early twenties but I was banging on about how I'll be having a pre-nup signed. As it's highly likely I'll own the property outright there's no way in hell I'd let the ***** take it. All thats whats mine is mine and whats his is ours/mine ******** can **** ***! Obviously if kids were involved things would be different. Not having a stab at you just saying how ****** I'd be!

I tend to buy clothes and then never really wear them because I didn't like them 100% I generally try not to waste cash although I did spend £80 on a halloween costume (Gorilla :p). It was a laugh but I'd rather still have my £80. Hoping to get some more use out of it though!

20k on a speedboat, that I then left to sink over xmas, insurance company proved I was negligent, didnt pay out, pretty sad.

thousands and thousands on articles of clothing I buy when tipsy/drunk and then never wear again

etc etc

Yeah good luck getting her to agree with that :p

Probably when I subscribed to the 'build a spitfire' magazine and never even finished it. Probably cost around £200 altogether. Might decide to finish it one day...

The ridiculously expensive engagement ring I bought a now ex-fiance/girlfriend, if I'd have known she was gonna screw around I'd have spent £800 not £8000 :p

Ah hindsight... awesome

My game consoles.

Seriously. They were 100% impulse buys, because it seemed "good at the time".

Sure they got lots of use initially, but being an FPS gamer, I gamed on the PC because (by comparison, and 100% IMO & IME - not wanting to start any system wars!!) console FPS sucks balls.

Being a PC player for longer than most console players have been alive also helps swing it for me.

My latest waste was a PS3 slim. Cracking console, but hasn't received the attention that it deserves from me - I'm still taken with playing FPS games, and PC gaming in general.

Anyway, my car would rate as a waste of money. I bought one month too early, and moneys was a bit tight. Made some silly financial decisions and will be dealing with the reprocussions for about 18 months more to come (car purchased early Jan 10). I could have waited a month, but nooo, I had to have it *NOW* and spend the banks money to obtain it. Large fuel bills and a Europe trip as well has left me rather short of £££ tbh.

By contrast, the EU trip itself was worth every p. Just wished I did it a little later.

Ho hum.

Games mainly.

I also wasted quite a lot on books for a school course that I never finished. Probably came up to something like £1200 in the end after 3 years.

Spending the best part of £2K on a web design IT course about 10 years ago. A mate of mine did something similar, qualified before me & started looking for a 'high paid' job in IT. What all the employers wanted were 'people with at least 2 years IT experience' not interested in people with qualifications. So we both gave it up as a bad idea. 10 years later I'm a Delivery Driver & he's a Cabbie. :(
