I'm due an upgrade on two of my phone contracts at the moment and I have to choose two new phones :p

I know a lot of what there is to know about phones at the moment however I'm not too sure about which Windows Phone to buy! At a fairly quick glance its between the Samsung Omnia 7, the HTC HD7 and the HTC Mozart. I know Malt_Vinegar on here at least has the Omnia and is impressed with it and I have had a look at his thread!

I think I'll get a Nokia N8 as the second phone so I can take it with me if I need a decent camera, even though I'm not a Symbian fan.

I currently have an iPhone 4, a HTC Desire, a Nokia N900 and a load of old ones that aren't worth mentioning. Obviously I will sell some of them at a later date.

The HTC Desire HD doesn't appeal to me really for two reasons, its battery seems to be a bit naff, and the hardware/software on it isn't a great deal better than the original HTC Desire.

I dont have (and have never had) a Blackberry and I'm not really sure I want one, I cant see what I would gain from using one at the moment. Spawn could try and convince me otherwise, though!

I suppose one of them should really be a Windows Phone, so I can keep up to date with its developments over time as it does seem to be a very promising platform! I dont have to order until early next week so I obviously have a lot of reading to do.

My question is, what would you get at this current moment in time, and why?

Well mate I have an HTC Mozart which I've been using for the last week, now that I'm used to the phone I have to say I'm very impressed.

The Mozart has that strange Aluminium frame which some people will like and others wont, the phone imo looks great, feels great *cold to touch :D* and a nice weight.

I've come from an HD2 so the decrease in Size is something I appreciate here, 3.7" is perfectly fine to me and big enough to use the phone. Nice and bright and a lot better than HD2 screen.

Camera wise you're talking 8 Megapixel with Xenon Flash, as soon as HTC release an app (unlock) for their camera to allow you to tinker with all the settings it should rock. My mate took some pics on his the other night when out and they looked very good.

Main differences are the Screen and Camera between the Omnia and Mozart as well as the addition of HTC apps. Really I don't think you can go wrong with either or in terms of the Windows Phones.

+1 for the Samsung Omnia 7/N8 combo.

I recently got the HD7 for my dads birthday, cracking phone and a great OS but would've picked the Omnia 7 if o2 had it on payg :D

Ps, greedy b*****d :p:D:cool:

I like the look of the HD7, it does seem a nice phone. However, I can't see any real advantage it gives over the Omnia, the SAMOLED is surely worth having. Do you have any specific reasons?

And even then it's a smartphone and a dumbphone for battery life, not two smartphones!!

I have a dumbphone in the car for a backup!

I'll settle on just one smartphone in the end, but I like to try them all out, properly. :)

i dunno about u, but i like the n8. people are just too fussy about OS.

omnia 7 is best windows 7 phone.

i'd get the n8 personally

:p

Yeah, mainly for the screen and overall design but the 4.3" on the HTC is pin sharp and build quality is good enough (the buttons are quite hard to press though)

I think you'll be happy with either tbh, it's all about the OS... (Still find it weird Samsung has to use a snapdragon :D)

San Fran for the lawlz.

Hm, no thanks :p

I must have read every single review of the N8 now, I think I'll have to go and try one to see if the software is as bad as I think it might be, in fairness it doesn't sound as bad as I thought it would, and the LED screen is a good bonus along with the awesome camera...

Just have to decide between the Omnia and HD7 now then :p

If thats the case then theres no point even trying to sell you a BB:p...unless your a big emailer etc then nothing beats the BB. But honestly i think for someone like you, your better off with an Android as they would suit your needs.

Yeah, I'm not a big emailer really. I'm pretty indifferent when it comes to Android/iPhone stuff, I never touch a lot of the social rubbish on them as I'm not someone who sits farting about on Facebook/Twitter all the time.

This is why I find the N8 interesting, it would be nice to have a very decent camera, while keeping the LED screen I like on the Desire. The only thing that will put me off it is if the browser is a pain in the backside to use, or if the phone is sluggish.

Doing research at the moment and I'll finish up with a go on one in the phone shop. All I would miss about the iPhone 4 is the app store, and the only game I play is Angry Birds, which is on the N8... :p

Probably going to go for the Omnia for my Windows Phone, think I'll have to try those out too. The only thing putting me off all of the Windows Phones is that the test pictures look quite poor compared to the DesireHD/iPhone, but still more research to do on that :)

I'm going to hold off the N8 until I have tried one, the software must be pretty awful if people are saying you should just get a 12MP point and shoot camera and take that along with your other phone :p

I've decided on the Omnia 7 though! :D

Id personally wait. Aren't dual core phones on the way soon anyway?

I sent my Desire HD back due to poor battery life and a few other little niggles.

Fairly soon, but I cant honestly imagine what gains they will bring so early on, and I imagine (from HTC at least) it will have a completely naff battery :p

Yeah, its not much better than the original Desire so I dont want one at all really.
