Dear god

Well they now have a fax of my covernote, so tell me they can tax it for me.

We'll see.

It's not too late to stop yourself being shafted by dealer finance.

What is the deal they have offered?

..seriously, you seem to be ignoring Fox's questions, he is trying to make sure you don't screw yourself over with a crap finance package, answer the man.

What? Dealers of Post Office?

It was the dealers idea...

Yeah dealers. My GF had major problems with all this. They only decided to tell her less than 24 hours before she was due to collect the car that she needed to bring her covernote in to tax it. We though't that they could tax using their company policy but according to them the rules have changed recently.

She also had problems after collecting the car but thats a differen't story.

Name and shame time..........Eddie Wright's of S'thorpe, Lincolnshire.

Hopefully they know what they're doing.

They told me to use their 7 day free insurance to tax the car, but I got declined, so she came up with a fax of my policy. Hmmm

Nothing wrong with a 2L Focus, matey. Far from sluggish and nice handling.

A dealer should be able to tax it without your cover note, when I go my Focus the dealer did it.

Also what was wrong with the OP's Corsa?? I may have missed it :S

When taxing a car they need to see the V5 and and insurance cert and they both have to be in the same name.

no they dont ?

the V5 cant be in your name as you have to sign the "new keepers" section on the V5, detach it, and send the rest away to the DVLA.

You usually sign the new keeper supplement when you collect it. And even if the dealer lets you sign it before collection, its posted to the DVLA and returned to your address, usually a couple of weeks later. Its rarely back in time for you to take it with you on collection

Have you even bought a car before ?

Never had problems with Dealers taxing the car for me, surely they have some sort of way of taxing them without insurance? I wouldn't want to be switching my insurance over to the new car then finding i can't swap them for another few days...

Would dealer finance for such a small amount actually be secured on the car!? I assumed it would be an unsecured loan effectively...
