@ Ocuk / Gibbo

are you going to change the price of the listing, this card was £239 as appose to the £249 stated on the current listing.

Quite often numbers do get changed mate do make it look like a bigger drop, will prob be 239.99 next weds........ Just a bit of marketing on OCUK's part...

its not right to imo
maybe it was £249, but the last known price of this card before T.W.O was £239
its only fair to either correct the prices ( whichever way )

the same with the Gigabyte 460 SOC
it was 169.99 on Tues but then on Weds it was 179.99 reduced to 169.99

its still a good deal but still.....

its not that a good deal when you actually might buy two knowing what the correct price was

guess it depends on what price it returns to once the week is over

hoping to get a 2nd 460 SOC next week but wont have the money till thurs/fri

It's common business practice, pretty much every business does it. There is a minimum period that a product has to appear at a price before they reduce it. Just because OcUK may do it is no surprise, don't slate them for it.

does anyone know how much cooler these run compared to the stock coolers ?

i had the 470 SOC but sent it back cause of the temps
i think mine was slightly dodgy as the temps didnt seem right

it idled at 57-61c and load was around 85-90c gaming

up to 97c in furmark

was still rock stable even at those temps and quiet

reviews seem to suggest temps are much lower mine is probably the exception

It's quite a deceitful business practice tbh.

I noticed a while back that sometimes the "this week only" and "today only" deals are no better than the standard day to day prices at other competitors, but a lot of uninformed people will just see the claimed saving and think they're getting a bargain and feel they need to buy it before the deal ends.

That's not to say there aren't a lot of good deals to be had though, just a few cases I've witnessed.

Actually when Ocuk introduced this card it was £239.99 and as far as I know its never been on here at £249.99. I already asked this question on another thread when the card was put on TWO and its still not been answered. I'm on the verge of buying this card but perhaps it should be £10 cheaper and I've asked a couple of questions on MY thread which I'd like answered before I buy.:)

I stand corrected by Gibbo's post below (thanks gibbo).:)

Gigabyte GTX470 SOC was first up at £258. It rose to £267? for a short while then dropped to £249, was only earlier this week it dropped to £239.

So the T.W.O. price (£234) is actually saving you £5 if my memory is correct over the previous lowest price £239.

Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury, M&S etc...they ALL do it

In the adverts on tv....you really think that 1500 price drops by Asda were from a low price to start with??? :p

To be fair I haven't seen this as a general theme at OcUK - I have noticed it has happened on some items now and again but not the majority of stuff on sales.

Hi there

Some facts!

The card was like £259.99 Inc. VAT

The card was then put on special Gigabyte Promo at £239.99 on our forums.

We then pushed it even lower on our This Week Only for just £234.99

When it comes off offer its going back to £249.99 Inc. VAT.

So basically buy one now, these are as rare as hens teeth, I don't even think our competitors have any because out of the 100 that arrived in the UK, OcUK got 80pc, which means there was 20pc for the rest of the OcUK.

So our price will go back too £249.99 Inc. VAT which is still lower than its previous £259.99 it was out before the promotions started a week ago.

At release (2 weeks ago) the card was £269.99 inc VAT, so £234.99 is a steal. This card is superior in every way to any other GTX470, it's the closest a factory clocked 470 will get to a GTX480.
