Hello everyone, i have a question.

Yesterday i passed the telephone interview for an o2 job and this monday i have a face to face interview. Can you give me any tips? I was asked to be ready to do a 10min presentation for whatever i want (eg entertainment, gadget and so on). What do they mean by that? I mean is it going to be just a simple face to face presentation of eg. a phone's specifications and characteristics or should i prepare a powerpoint for something bigger(in a past assessment i was asked to do a ppt presentation thats why i ask). Thank you in advance and if you have some extra advice to give i will be delighted to read them.

PS. I just came from greece and this type of interview is my first. thank you in advance

o2 have many people doing many different things, what have you applied to do?

If the OP is from Edinburgh, O2 do have a centre based in Glasgow which cover O2 broadband customer service, and some post-pay and data support customer service.

Only other things up there are shops as far as im aware.

O2 head office is based in Slough.

Yeap i kinda have something in mind. I'll do some reading about them first though :D

Hi there :)

Im currently a sales adviser in an o2 shop so can give you a bit of an insight.

The first piece of advice i can give is be confident. Obviously this accounts for any interview but it's especially important in a sales adviser role as you will have to speak to everyone and anyone if you get the job and if you hesitate during a sale it gives a bad image of yourself, the shop and the company. however ensure you dont come across as arrogant as no one likes that, just be confident in yourself and you'll do fine.

Also they will probably ask you a few questions about the business (for example they asked me in my interview why o2 was awarded the iphone contract from apple a year before the other competitors, the answer to which was something along the lines of "because of the way o2 looks after its customer's and the quality at which o2 provide its service")

However they did not ask me to do a presentation so i cant help you there really so i aplogise. But following on from before i suggest you just pick a subject your confident in as from the sounds of it, they are not particularly looking at the subject you choose (but obviously dont choose something that looks bad like drink or something) but rather the way in which you present yourself so try your best to stay calm, remain confident and try not to hesitate + use good language.

Hope this helps mate and if you have any further questions just let me know and ill be more than happy to help :D

Aaron.

P.S. let us know how you do :)

Hi there :)

Becuase O2 were the only company that would bow down to Apple's insane tie in's and what percentage of the contract sales revenue they generated from the iPhone was the honest answer though.

kinda true i guess, however it was the right answer and i got the job, im just trying to help this guy by providing an example from my interview.

Yeah I know, but that's why I'd never get another job in retail 'cause I am honest and blunt, used to work for Orange many years ago as one of there Buisness store managers and consistently got thanked for being honest.

same tbh, in my interview i bluffed but now im working for them i see honesty as vital, i hate all these other sales people that talk bull to get a sale, at the end of the day if your honest the customer leaves happy and hopefully will come back again...plus it makes your job a lot easier in the long run. my morals just dont allow me to force a sale i just go with whats best for customers :) hows orange to work for btw? o2 seems pretty good but thinking about moving to somewhere closer and orange seem alright and are looking for staff

cheers

No idea what they are like now, they used to be great like 8 years ago, moved on since then after the company started taking on a distinctly Phones 4U type attitude.

glad its not just me who despise phones 4 u and carphone warehouse anyway thanks ill take a look at them and see where it takes me :)

To be honest i myself worked back in greece in 2 similar positions. I always told the owner before i took the job that i am gonna be honest to the customers, and i will get them to buy the very best thing THEY can buy with the money THEY WANT to spent. Nothing more. And i took the job everytime. But that was back in greece.. Every single time that i did that, it worked.I saw other sales advisors trying to sell (not carring for the customer, just trying to sell the priciest thing in store, even though we didn't get paid depending on our sales).

As a customer myself i hate when i move in a store, and the sales advisors try to sell me crappy staff, thinking that i have no clue of what they are selling me most of the time. I live through technology. I know what i am gonna buy. I just want to get some advice between different products. Which to buy and staff like that..

About the presentation, i was thinking to present my phone, the technical specs and explain the pros of the device. Nope i don't have an iphone( i don't like paying for things that other companies gave me 8 years ago for free)(but i aint gonna tell them that).. I have a TG01 (wm6.5 and lots of goodies) which i bought last year for only 140 pounds..

The guy in the phone interview told me for the presentation to present whatever i like (if it is entertainment or something in technology). When i told him that i was gonna do a presentation of my smartphone he said that would be better. What do you think?
