windows live messenger 11 popup

Deleting / Uninstalling doesn't stop it from happening. Its being pushed out as part of Windows Update so an awful lot of people with have the problem. This mainly seems to be so MS can push Bing and its lame social networking stuff at you.

I actually clicked on install, it ran thru the process and then eventually told me i had the most recent version installed.
Seems to have made it go away.
Was rather irritating whilst it was occurring, seemingly at random.

I stand corrected it just happened again.
I wonder if it is due to being logged into one account on the running msn program but in a different account on hotmail whilst closed but still within the browser.

I'm having the same issue, I installed Messenger 11 (**** btw) in an effort to stop this, stupid thing keeps popping up though !

Also doing my head in. I must admit an eyebrow did raise when the page I was on decided to spontaneously redirect.

MSN is on thin ice as it is.

I just just started gettin this browser window popping up now too. Only started a few days ago.

Its darn bugging me. I thought it was a naughty ad app that found its way onto my system.

Possible Solution

I've also been getting this, I searched everywhere for an answer and the only solution I have found was at

http://www.solinky.com/en/articles/annoying-windows-live-messenger-popups/?pop

It appears that Microsoft are playing games again and trying to domainate the world! If they want to force people to use their stuff then don't they realise people will go the other way (Hope your ready Big G for more traffic)

The answer is in the link you provided

1. Go to the Control Panel
2. double-click on Internet Options
3. Select the Security tab and click on Restricted sites
4. click on the Sites button below and add rad.msn.com to the zone

Not only does it totally stop the page coming up, it also gets a swipe back at MS by stopping ALL the irritating adverts in the Messenger screen.

They seem to think it works

Edit: this may just replace the pop up with an Active X error message :)
