i'd advise highly against this

the reason the headlights are pap will be most likely because its on the original headlight glass. This will have clouded and got scratched over time, meaning it diffuses and blocks the light comming from the bulbs

fitting a retrofit HID kit into those clusters is going to make it even worse !

You need to either A) find a replacement glass or B) polish the existing one using a drill polishing attachment and some meguiars plast-x as the headlights will be perspex rather than glass.

If theyre genuine hella's or like the dodgy remake ones on mine (that are to be replaced) im pretty sure they are glass!

The reason the headlamps are rubbish is because Golf headlamps (and the loom that feeds them) are rubbish.

How you can comment on the pitting and scratching of the lens from a picture that size is beyond me!

I concur! OT lopez can you reccomend an upgrade my headlights are frankly shocking unless you like looking at the floor about 2m form the bonnet!

was making an assumption based on the age of the vehicle

I remember the improvement you made in the 205s headlights merely by renewing the headlights

they are projectors so HIDs wont be too bad

Projector lights have been around for YEARS. The E34 5 Series had them, our 1995 Mitsubishi FTO had them, etc.

Rallye has projectors, they are bloody expensive compared to normal Golf lamps.
