Anyone know if BE Broadband are any good?

Been with be for 2 years and it's awsome :) bell wire mod I done 6 months ago boosted me from 13.5mb download to 18.5mb Down 1.4 up

Love it :)

I'm contemplating bonding

Done them all mate not really changed a lot tho to be honest these are the reading i get now.

3517 kbps 991 kbps
Line Attenuation 64.5 db 35.5 db
Noise Margin 10.00 db 0.5 db

Not really much else i can do i guess. I remember when i was with talk talk they would change the line profile to a lower DB dont know if virgin do anything like that but i doubt it hey

It seems you're stuck with the high attenuation unless you can find the first socket the external NTE connects to and connect your router to that.

Extensions add onto the line length, and from I can gather, when you took off the face plate;

The number 7300 51 circled in the image indicates that socket is a secondary socket. For the first socket the number would be 7300 50.

Thanks swifty, my router is not actually connected to this socket as its located down stairs, its plugged into the nearest socket to the master outside, i will open it up again and check out the number. Should i maybe disconnect the ring wire from the master and see if it makes a difference? i didnt fold any of the wires away i removed i take it this wont cause any extra noise on the line would it?

Dont think i will take up the o2 offer they tried to sell me guess i will have to wait for more BE connections in my exchange

I just disconected my ring wires from my outside bt box as thats where my box is, disconected all the ring wires from my 5 sockets in my house, and these are my results
before

Connection Speed 3409 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 64.5 db 35.5 db
Noise Margin 10.40 db 1.5 db

after

Connection Speed 3625 kbps 1023 kbps
Line Attenuation 64.0 db 35.5 db
Noise Margin 10.00 db 1.5 db

I'm 3.2km (I think can't check DSL zone atm) and I get 10meg down 1.2meg up... Will try this when I get in .... Worth a punt

Im 80% sure you will see an improvement. The big question would be how much it will improve.

Might be easier to project with some current line stats

Not really a huge increase :(

Given that I had +5mb when I done it. Are you sure you completely removed the wire? are you connected to the master socket?

EDIT: Just seen your downstream attenuation, either you have some dodgy wiring or your really far from the exchange hence why you didnt really see much difference.

Im getting a BT guy out to mine tomorrow.

Noisy when ADSL syncs and even if i turn router off it takes a good few seconds for the crackling etc on the phone to go away. Sounds like it could be an issue with the voice card in the exchange. Hopefully its something external anyway!!

Im about 3 miles from my exchange i believe :( i cant connect to my master socket as its one of those ones in a grey bt box outside. I can see my line can support 3-4mb and my downstream atthe mo is 3.6 so i guess its kinda not to bad
