Ronald Reagan, George Bush and soon to be Sarah Palin. Just on that list alone, i have to question the general level of intelligence of the average American.
Are they really that stupid or are they hiding something from the rest of the world.

In the interests of furthering ethnic stereotypes I'd have to say yes.

In the interests of furthering intelligent statements I'd have to say no.

USA is just a young, precocious empire that loses its way now and then. Us old imperial hawks have been there, done that, and so we can look upon their policies with tired, weathered eyes. We still did/do daft things.

Whereas I suppose you are a Mensa candidate?

There isn't really an 'average' American, there is a huge split ideologically, socially and geographically between the rural 'conservative' and urban 'liberal' Americans and as the US population is about 50-50 in terms of rural/urban population you tend to get diametrically opposed politics too.

Even in California a traditionally 'liberal' state - there is still a huge amount of polarisation between the coastal counties from San Francisco to San Diego - the populated urban 'liberal Democrat' centres and the counties outside which although less-populated are resolutely 'conservative Republican'

If Sarah Palin is the Presidential Nominee, then the Democrats and Obama will be breaking out the champagne - she did enough as a Vice-President to not get McCain elected so as a Presidential nominee she should do just fine to ensure another 4 year term for Obama.

gambitt coming into a thread purely to comment on what I've said... has this ever happened before?

Don't flatter yourself. You like throw in some contraversial opinions which appear to only serve the purpose of attempting to wind someone up. Are you surprised that someone picks you up on some of them them?

The OP has posted an entire thread which appears to only serve the purpose of attempting to wind somebody up. He is implying that an entire nation of 160 million people are 'dumb'.

And you pick on MY reply? You think my reply is the controversial opinion in this thread? lol

I stand by my reply. I'd like to know what he thinks of himself if he considers all Americans stupid.

Once again you are reading what you want to read. The OP is not making that statement, he is asking a question.

Then you should be bright enough to realise that no, American people are not stupid. Some of them are stupid, some of them are very intelligent, many of them are very average.

Just like the United Kingdom.
