£4,000 budget for a nippy, fun car?

Clio 172, you won't get as nice a 182 for £4k, it'll be a high miler. Plus there's not a massive difference in performance. If you can find one at a dealer, get a test drive - I'm sure it'll change your perception on them.

Fiesta ST. :)

Good on insurance (Group 26 compared to 31 if you were to consider the Clio), good mpg, 150bhp (0-60 in 7.9s). Good car to have at 21!

Randomly picked from Piston Heads as an example....

£4,750 - 30k miles - Facelift Mk2 - Black

Pahhhhh rubbish engine!!! Well built compared to the French rivals, well a ST isnt really a rival to an RS ;) :p

The exhausts on the back of the 182 look damn cool.

The 172 on the other hand :(

The OP is more concerned with the appearance of the car than its performance or he wouldn't be dismissing some of the above suggestions.

So, what's pretty and reasonably fast for $4k?

Oooo an ST, that looks like a good suggestion, how becomes the Clio is suggested instead? As you guys can tell I don't know a lot about cars but I very much enjoy driving them.

In this case just buy the Mini. With comments like the one above I can see one suiting you to the ground .

Cheers for the dig, why would I want a c2? It's absolutely vile.
