Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Ok...just updated mine to JPO...not!....stuck on the s logo and vibrating every minute or so. Just got off the phone to o2 and its a known problem to them and they are doing a doorstep swap on monday.

Mine has done that a few times when trying different roms i just boot into recovery and clear and reset and it goes.

if anyone after the stock MSN email look i used this its taken from the Galaxy tab but works fine on this.

Personally i would have checked to see if the 3 button combo works on the phone you have because on the new one it might not.

Installed Doc Froya rom + modified touchwiz and my SGS is running sweet.

Hmm I had an extended play tonight with a relative's S and must say that I do like the phone way more than I intiially did. Obviously with Launcher Pro it is awesome (not a fan of Touchwiz) but what impressed me most was how good the camera was at 720p, 30fps, so smooth but the difference was how the metering changed when looking at bright to dark scenes, it was very smooth and as good as the iPhone 4 from what I could see.

If I knew I could get good monies for my rooted and S-Off'd Desire I'd have to think long about if I wanted an S lol because its camera is just what I've been looking for but I just know HTC are due to out new handsets for Xmas :p

Tried that. Didn't work for me. The email app kept on crashing and wouldn't start up. It would just force close. Luckily I backed up the existing email.apk.

I put it in the apps folder as he said and then installed the apk file i put on the phone works great.

I forgot to delete the email.odex file. Works fine after.

Excellent client, has a few issues but it's very functional still!

Liking the email port. Didn't have any problems getting it to work. Just rename the original email.apk and odex, mount system/app as R/W copy over the file and set the permissions.

Tiny mods like this make the phone so much better. Does anyone here use whatsapp? They really need to fix the send button lag. Its really irritating!

Just fixed my 3-button problem using this method. Make sure you follow the instructions exactly. Mine now works great!

I then flashed the phone using some advice above to fool Kies into thinking I have an XEU model (I actually had the H3G version on JG3) and now I'm on Froyo JPO. The phone is much more responsive and feels a lot less buggy and more solid. Some nice improvements all across the board, I recommend it.

EDIT: What's the best way to root 2.2 JPO?

You could download an app that will allow you to customize your lock screen to your liking called widgetlocker pro (paid app), lockbot or goto lock screen. Some of them also allow you to add widgets etc. to the lock screen.

I think widget locker pro is the best.

I'm giving my galaxy to my mate so I'm doing a factory reset, however I have a lot of apps on there which he wants, can I just redownload them once I've wiped it?

Paid apps are tied to your gmail account so you'd have to log in before you'll have access to the market.
free app he'll need a gmail account.

Has anyone tried the speedmod kernal Here?

Just flashed it to my sgs running jp6 and installed voodo lagfix, the defferance is amazing, 40-50mb more free ram and no lag in the slightest. Only the gps to fix and ill be happy!

Yea, it's incorporated into Docs Froyo Custom ROM which I have been using the last few days.
It really makes a big difference. I went my from old stock 2.1 firmware with OCLF straight to this and haven't looked back!

Just installed 2.2 from Kies and by god my Phone is horrendously slow/nigh on impossible to use!
The lag is worse than it's ever been before!!!

Would installing the custom ROm you linked resolve these issues?
