Limewire is dead !

The RIAA haven't won anything.

All it will take is for some smart coder to reverse engineer the main program and hey presto, it will be back online !

Seems that has already happened :p

Last month, the Gnutella-based file-sharing client LimeWire was effectively outlawed after a U.S. federal judge granted a request from the RIAA to shut the software down. Now, not even a month later, LimeWire is back as good as new. Not only has a secret dev team reanimated the hugely popular client, but they have also made a few significant changes which make it better and more streamlined than before.

LOL! :D

I've got a mate that does that, even puts them on his ipod.

The quality is terrible. I still don't have the heart to tell him though :p

The days of DC++ on a 100Mbps inter/intra-college network were awesome, especially as it was 'unofficially' sanctioned by the admins as it reduced the Janet traffic, there was usually one bod somewhere in one of the colleges that had (back then - 2000-2003 an obscene 1TB of space) and seemingly literally everything :p

Installed, ran SpyBot, Re-installed windows.
-That was about my total experience with limewire.
Does take me back to IRC #warez and Napster and the total awesomeness of a 24 hour T3 internet connection at the uni back in 1998/9

Free music these days = Internet Radio and Podcasts. Jango is pretty good for most stuff, I still like buying a CD though.

14 year olds all over the world will be miffed.

agree with that.
I work on a helpdesk, did a remote session into a user's laptop, saw that on there, explained what it did, after quick chat with others on if i should or not and I was told
"how are my kids suppoed to get their music"
i just told her to do what most do which is PAY for it, and 1 of the funny things was she had Itunes installed for their ipods!

So you tell people to pay for their music but you don't pay for your own. Cool.

Of all the people doing the 'funny' lamewire-type comments, no-one managed "lemonwire?" Seriously, I'm disappointed.

It was ****. Think my brother might still have it, and thousands of viruses, installed.

lol, its funny that they released anew version, not that i would ever use it, RIAALOL!

Shut down TPB?
Shut down newzbin?
Shut down limewire?

Who exactly do they think they are kidding? themselves obviously!

Ahhh, the old days of Kazaa Lite!

WinMX was my main way of... discovering new bands! 30 mins to download one track was exciting.

I have to wonder if they know that newzbin came back up within days of being shut down and is better than ever. And if so, how annoyed are they?
