I'd roll in that. I do like these - partly because the styling's a little closer to the E34 than the E39 is, I think......

I'd probably go for a V8 though, I'd hazard a guess that a 730 or 40 isn't probably that much worse on fuel?

My dad used to have pretty much that spec, that colour, but pre facelift and a 735. It was awesome. I miss it.

I thought R42354/23235234564235 wanted a 740 though?

That lump in the E36 doesn't really feel all that quick. It in a land-barge must make kittens cry :(.

Since it's just down the road from me.... send me £4000 and I'll go down and see if I can do a deal :).

He had a 728i before. We had many arguments where he thought it was fast and I thought it was slow.

So you're trying to keep him in a slow one so you can continue your argument? :p

I thought R124/3335567bfg45768746.09 was on holiday anyway?

The real challenge would be to send you down with only £3000 :D

The 728i is too underpowered. I'd want the 740i sport too. Infact a coupl eof months back I looked at a 750i Sport (not the limo) and it was in excellent condition, really made me want it. It was 10k+ though with 90k miles.

Any work on the v12 engine would have cost a small fortune too :(

Probably because you couldn't spec wood on the 3-spoke "sport" wheel.

I thought it was because the 4-spoke wheel had all the buttons for controlling the stereo etc, whereas the sport wheel wouldn't?

Although if that was the case, the sport wheel would need to be different in the 7s to those of the 3s and 5s - these have all the buttons.

Edit - ignore, I'm talking complete rubbish.

Update: I am inclined to agree with paradigm regarding the wood comment - http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E38/bmw_e38_buying_guide.htm

It's the standard E38 wheel. The E38 never got the revised bus wheel the E39 did because that happened for MY2002, where the E65 appeared.

It did indeed get the 3 spoke wheel, the same design as your original and the same design as the E36 M3 (although e38 got multifunction, e36 didn't).

Thats not what I said.

I said it never got the new 'bus style' (ie the stock) steering wheel that the E39 got for MY2002, which is why it still has the older style one on a Y plate.

The Sport wheel was an option on the E38 - but misses out some of the multifunction buttons.
