Hi .....sorry about the noob post gut i have no knowledge of SSD's i am looking for a drive to fit my os and copy of wow on atm i'm running 2 x samsung 750 gig F1's in raid 0.
looking at buying the bigfoot 90 gig and am wondering is it a case of connecting it up and doing a reinstall of windows job done ? or will it be more involved my mobo is the p6x58d-e ....an idiots guide would be helpfull :)

- Connect new SSD into system and disconnect all HDD's prior to install.
- Set SATA controller to AHCI mode in BIOS.
- Install Windows.
- Connect up HDD's again.

Never do a full format with a SSD, just a quick format and of course don't try to Defrag one either ;)

Enjoy!

Hmm, if you use Vista you won't be getting TRIM commands passed to the drive. Would be better to upgrade to Windows 7.

And yes, you should disable defrag for the SSD via the Control Panel.

I would also suggest running Windows Experience Index promptly after installing the OS. As from what I've read, it then makes all the necessary "tweaks" for you (IE. Defrag off etc.) It certainly did for me.

Im getting my ssd today :) I also got another 500g drive so I can raid with the one I already as well

So I really should install windows 7 first on the ssd and then connect the raid drives after? What happens if i dont do this?
