Boots, shoes....

Couldn't care less, its just terminology.

Sure sometimes its a bit odd (I don't use the ones mentioned - boots/shoes) but where do you draw the line?

Do you get offended at people referring to cars/bikes and parts like

Lips
Rims
Blower
Tubby
Whip
Dubz
Rice
Crotch Rocket

Offended no, but most of those terms immediately mark the person that uses as a fool IMO.

A supercharger has been referred to as a "blower" from pre-war times so I have no problems with this. The first "Blower" Bentley was made in 1926.

'Tubby' annoys me; the MR2OC forumites use this term and to me it sounds like a 2 year old trying to say "Turbo". What's the point in saying "Tubby" when it makes you sounds stupid and it's not even a shorter name than the correct one?

Whip, Dubz etc. are just wannabe gangster cretin words. No need for further confirmation of mongness after one of these has passed someone's lips - unless being used for humour.
