Been to look at a Focus ST

I've got Code:Red on mine, very good map, has good day to day driveability, I don't see the need for dreamscience, "i've got 7 maps to chose from", yeah I've got one, and works perfectly for me, lol.

Would get it again, just need to get a new intercooler, and a CAIS and my major modding is completed for the time being.

Well, just been to see the one at available car and it was brilliant, felt as tight as the 59 plate tester I drove on sunday (and looked better, imho in performance blue), the black one at the ford garage didn't seem to be as strong on boost when i drove it last night, maybe it was just me but it didn't feel the same as the other 2, sadly those tight barstwerds at availablecar have only offered £3200 for the Civic, so am in moral dilemma time right now, am thinking I'll just advertise my car localy now, see if it gets any bites, will have 5 1/2 months tax and a full years MOT, so maybe that'll help, will throw an advert around work tomorrow for a start I guess, too!

54 Plate (November 2004) Civic Sport 1.6 (16" Alloys [17 were an option])

43,000 miles, full service history (Honda/Indy) Tax till April 30th 2011.

I know what Ford offered (£4200) was way over market value, as they were balatently knocking £500 off the sale price, was expecting in the middle, around £3700

Out of interest why are you guys saying Mountune is better than Dreamscience or presumably Bluefin / Code Red ?

As far as I was aware it is more expensive, cant be transferred and only of benefit if you're worried about warranty ?

Because it is done properly, and does not chase numbers. The results are something that is that bit more drivable and was even significantly faster than one of the other tuners 300bhp package in a magazine test video. If you plan on keeping it for a while, it is definitely worth it, IMO.

Plus many insurance companies recognise cars with the Mountune upgrade as a complete model of its own, often much cheaper than declaring mods.

all the mountune kit is uprated filter intercooler and remap and its 1200 quid from what ive just seen on their website beauty of it is its all covered under ford warranty , only downside less power and more expensive

Also do some haggling with them on the trade in or get them to knock the price of the focus down they will buckle :D

Pub figures are irrelevant, the Mountune kit is faster.

Pumaspeed are not reall comparable to Mountune - that they don't have their own rolling road to tweak and develop things tells you all you need to know when you compare them to the serious outfits like Mountune who have a hell of a lot of R&D capability and proven competition experience....

Pumaspeed generally 'buy in' other peoples remaps to use and fit off the shelf tuning parts, they do very little development for themselves...for the Fiesta ST their tuning packages almost never hit the claimed power, its something of a running joke over at FiestaSTOC.

Any serious or unusual problems after modifications and they usually direct people to Jamsport, whose maps they buy and resell anyway....usually at a higher price.

If you go over to Passionford take a look at the car which made Pumaspeed most famous, a 4x4 converted Puma with Cossie YB engine and the kit car wide arches....some guy has bought it to restore, and has spent most of the time fixing poorly bodged parts - masking taped wires for the engine ECU and bunged pipes and the like. This car was owned by the main man at Pumaspeed....if he doesn't have proper attention to detail for his own cars, what chance customers? A company I would steer clear from based on what I have read!

The closest is their 285 package, and even that is £400 more.

The Mountune upgrade is almost certainly faster than just their remap, and probably better than their 285 package, or at the very least - equal.

Like I said, the Mountune package has been shown to be faster than another tuner's 300bhp package, so it is now slouch.

Sadly the one that felt totally spot on was at Available Car, who don't haggle at all, tempted to just go for it or try and privately sell my Civic, the noise from the Focus is so nice, such different tunes throughout the rev range :D

the MP260 is £999 for a Map, induction system and a Intercooler. DS is like 500 on its own isnt it? Mountune know how to map Fords and are the only ones to have full access to Ford ECU's.

as quick as the same priced kit from pumaspeed ?

Pumaspeed kits rarely make advertised figures, maybe one or two runs out of 10 they will make the figure... A Mountune Performance 260 will make 260ps every time.

Id say go for it and not worry about getting as much private sales can be a pain in the arse
