My Dad is over in Australia, and I am finding it hard what to buy him for his Birthday and Christmas. Any ideas? - Not sure why I asked GD as I am sure some posts will be lolworthy. :p

Any suggestions to spark my little mind would be great. :)

A set of shoes with suction cups on the soles to compensate for being upside down?

Generally for sending presents to the other side of the World I'd pick something relatively small and light - clothing, maybe books or alternatively order from an Australian store if it will deliver to your dad there.

Do you mean what can you buy him because he's now over there and you don't know what to get? Or what can you buy him that you can post?

My dad was over in Oz the xmas before last, I got some chocolates and a couple of gifty things delivered to him through an aussie company.

Why bother?

If he's in Austrailia then why doesn't he just do what the locals do and steal himself something.

Books are a good idea. I have relatives in Australia and they say that books that are normally £2-£3 in WH Smiths and the like are over a tenner there.

My brother lives in New Zealand and all the moneys for yearly holiday/birthday/'presented events' gets put into a pot that will soon pay for a mini-break to see him in person :)

what about cufflinks or something like that if you want to post it from the uk with a card and message ?? They're small and easy to post, but loads of choice ??

Why not make up a small box of goodies he wouldn't be able to get hold of easily out there? Maybe branch out by looking for local things he can do out their and call them up and pay over the phone for a red letter day type thing.
