Call of Duty: Black Ops

I had the same problems with WaW at the start. Hated the maps. But now, I think they were some of the best maps of COD. Don't think I liked any of the MW2 maps.

As for the RC cars, why not shoot them then? Or even better, semtex.

I think you misunderstand my criticism. It's not that they have a strategic advantage over me. I understand they can be shot, and when I can, I do. I just find them an annoyance Id rather not have...I'd rather be shooting other players instead, not thinking Im playing Mario Kart.

As for maps, I will try and play more when I get the chance so hopefully I will come to like them. I do miss maps like Temrinal though, and Rust :(

Oh and don't waste money on a headset just for this game ATM, There is no advantage to them as of yet and

Yea I heard about this, I do need a replacement headset though, My skullcandy's are nearly broken and I hate having separate comms/sound cause it doesn't work properly which is why I'm going for the x11's.

Then in that case proceed with the purchase. Just don't expect to be blown away with audio on this one game.

I've only had it 2 days and I already want to sell the damn thing. I get dropped in 2 bullets, yet it takes me an entire clip to drop somebody this is on a 3 or 4 bar connection. I get 4 hit markers across the map with an Assault rilfe, yet that same guy can drop me across the same distance with an SMG spraying it side to side while ADS.

They've made some great decisions with regards to nerfing and removing some things, but for me the gameplay and hit detection is a complete and utter bag of ****. Looks like CoD is pretty much finished for me now that Treyarch are the lead developers (this being my first Treyarch game and what a disappointment :o)

IW failed hard when it came to sorting out glitches and balancing issues with MW2, but atleast the core game played really well.

Yeah I wasn't sure, I saw the blue X button prompt when he was over dead enemies but thought you could just plug the 360 pad in the PC, I never noticed those announcer sounds in the PS3 version though.

He adds them as sound effects :p Along with the Duke one-liners.

He is a really clever player when he rushes, one of the top youtube player peeps reviewed his gameplay and when you slow it down you see how smart he is playing most of the time. Such as sticking to 1 car and always making sure he has an escape route.

It's the same with Quake players and how they can count the second until rockets respawn and knowing even while they are on the other side of the map how many jumps it will take to pick up those rockets.

This is true, but in those vids he doesn't know the maps etc, which is why I pointed out that he is playing it the same way you or I would currently.

Use any of the guns in that video online right now without pulling host and compare how quickly you kill with them, infact theatre it and post it up here, I can guarantee it will take twice as long to kill with them from the first bullet fired. I guess the guy is just in an Internet sweet spot, don't get me wrong he is a damn good player at the game, but I have seen others with as much skill and get nowhere near as many kills as he does.

I have a guy on my friends list who purposely put a 100Mb fiber line in to pull host on COD games. If it doesn't go his way he Dashboards no matter if winning or not, K/D not good enough - Dashboard, better player on the other team - Dashboard. I have given up playing with him as it is so annoying.

Lol @ the dude commentating on randy savage, some golden quotes:

"look at that dumbass trying to shoot at him"

"they should make a patch just for randy savage cause he's such a beast!"

"son... get out of the way, thats randy savage you're standing infront of"

hahahahahahahah

Picked this up on the way home on Wednesday, used some club card vouchers to get 18 quid off the price, so not too bad.

Finally played it last night and what can I say.... how in the name of hell did this get 10/10 ratings? I’ve only seen the scores and not read the reviews, but unless the reviews were only focused on MP, and that is totally brilliant (I’ve not yet played that part btw), then this 10/10 stuff is just hype scores imo.

It’s a totally ‘dead’ feeling game, when the first level kicked in and I fired the first shot, I felt immediate disappointment – whether it was the frankly poor sound effects, or underwhelming graphics, I can’t quite put a finger on it; it just felt hollow.

Progressing through about 5-6 levels last night, I felt no connection to the story or game as a whole, it just didn’t grab a hold of me and shake me screaming, by stark contrast, Medal of Honour did actually do this; sure that was also a run of the mill on rails shooter too, but MOH actually seems more realistic than BOPS :(

It’s not to say that I’m not enjoying it to a degree, but from what I have experienced of SP so far, it’s quite a mediocre game, barely worth 6/10, although the run and gun onslaught nature of it, did put me in the mindset of playing the original and sequel on PC many years back – simple, mindless action.

One thing that really really annoyed me, was how **** poor the AI on both dies is – I mean what a complete step back in gaming, they are think as two short planks, the enemy just charge you without regard for their own survival and your team mates seem to do jack; even when an enemy is standing right in front of them. And don’t even get me started about how inaccurate your team mates are – I’ve had countless occasions where one of my team are literally feet away from the guy they’re shooting and can’t drop him!

As disappointed I was with the shortness of MOH, it is standing head and shoulders above BOPS right now, they’re like night and day, and fan boy loyalty to developments teams aside, you really can see that the guys who made MOH (who I understand to be ex MW guys) are the better bunch. On the subject of MOH, I really missed the lean mechanic, not to mention the selective fire of weapons, the decent team mates, the better sound, the better graphics.... everything really.

So anyway, there are my thoughts so far, people may agree, people may not, but this is my own opinion – much as I’m pimping MOH above though, I prefer BC2 over all :D

Oh, and let’s hope the MP is brilliant, or this will be a pretty swift trade in once the campaign is done.

Scort, what difficulty setting did you play it on? I'm on hardened first time around and I don't think the AI are "that" easy to kill.

Playing on hardened, I always stick my games on hard, in an attempt to make them last longer - I would have done vet, but didn't fancy the respawning enemies.

But the AI is rubbish on both sides :(

I'm sure there will be, if you remember MW, WaW then MW2 every one of them had party problems the first week or two before things started to improve. My NAT type changes between Open and Moderate so sometimes I have issues sometimes not it's 50/50, I do have mates who's NAT type is Strict though so they can't join any party or host one. Best thing to do at the moment is join session when your mates are in 'pre game lobby' and hope the slots are open.

Weird, however I did notice on the prison break level that Nevski ran around in circles for about 30 seconds trying to "find" the gun cabinet and sergei had already started bashing the door down.
