Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

Think I'll start saving.

Okay, so you're not feeling Samsung's Nexus S. We'd say that's a little premature, but still, we get it. We understand. How about this, then? Is this more to your liking? We've just been tipped with a few morsels on what should become Samsung's flagship Android device early next year -- February, to be specific, suggesting we could see an unveiling at MWC -- and it's looking promising. Different parts of the slide deck describe it as having either a 4.3- or 4.5-inch "sAMOLED2" display, presumably standing for "Super AMOLED 2" and implying that Sammy's made some advancements over the screens we've been seeing on the Galaxy S series this year. It'll naturally have Android Gingerbread and be equipped with an 8 megapixel camera capable of 1080p video capture, 14.4Mbps HSPA, Bluetooth 3.0, a 1.2GHz core of some sort, and 16GB of storage onboard. The deck describes it as having an "ultra sleek design," and judging from the side shot, we'd tend to agree. So who's holding out for this?

Update: We're confident that the above slide comes from Samsung, but one of the pictures therein is most definitely not of a new Samsung phone -- but rather a VoIP handset by Apiotek from several years ago. Considering the image in question pops up right away in a Google Image search for "ultra slim phone," we're inclined to think Samsung got a little hasty putting together the PowerPoint this time round. [Thanks, Nathan H.]

Crikey! If, specs are accurate that would result in the best phone on the planet.
Shame they've gone for a iphone4 look like they did with SGS looking like the 3G

4.3" SAMOLED(2?) would kick a great deal of arse. I hope the back of that is alu and not plastic though! Still no HDMI out mentioned? I'm surprised that manufacturers seem to be favouring DLNA for their connectivity specs, even if it is a wireless standard.

Still a led flash when will they ever learn the only way we are going to get decent camera pics is to put a proper xenon flash on, can't really see the point of 1080p playback on a small screen mind.

Ok..well re: the samsung galaxy mine is now bricked.:(
I have three button recovery and have tried to install a new rom but it's not having it.:/

Start at the beginning, what is it doing? Download mode and Odin can usually fix most problems with a full low level firmware.

Try:-

Grab the JPO firmware > http://www.multiupload.com/MX8XW7BG24

And Odin 1.7 & PIT 512 > Odin1.7_512PIT.zip

Extract them all somewhere..

Remove the sim and external SD, make sure battery is charged and ensure sure Kies is not running or tries to start.

Enter Recovery mode, clear cache, factory reset and format SD.

Reboot into Download without the phone usb connected. Open B]Odin 1.7[/B] select 512 PIT, tick repartition only don't tick reboot. Connect usb, in Odin you should see a yellow window under ID:COM with a COM port open, click start.

Once done, using the power button to power down, reboot to download mode directly.

Clear all settings/files in Odin, select JPO_JPO_U_JPP.tar as PDA. Leave everything un-ticked except reboot. Check the com is connected, if it is hit start, if all goes well a green bar will move across until the phone reboots.

Leave it to do its thing at the big S (I usually unplug USB by now, to avoid problems) wait upto 10mins first time. If it hangs try a reset and cache clear and reformat SD.
Normally the device should already be on 512 layout, so doesn't really need to be repartitioned unless you've used another PIT or a custom rom's corrupted something.

Since I put this custom ROM on, our threre abouts, the stock browser keeps asking what browser to use when I load pages, constantly. Even if I tell it to remember. Any ideas?

Thank you for your help .:) . I have done exactly as you have described .When I tried to format the sd card a red error came up saying" e:Can't mount /dev/block/st110(Invalid argument) E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA: "

The phone seems to have a problem accessing the internal sd card. I think that the voodoo lag fix seems to have corrupted it even though I disabled it :(
Right now it seems stuck in a vibrating mode with a black screen:/

How is everyone finding their SGS as I am at the point to upgrade and can't decided between:

Iphone 4 / HTC DHD / SGS

I like the screen of Iphone 4 and SGS and worry the DHD is too big with poor battery life...

Any opinions? Will samsung give up supporting the SGS in no time as well though similar to phones in the past?

I have the SGS and now after some tinkering it is fine but if i were able to go back in time i would not buy it again....i think i would go HTC...what's an Iphone...never heard of it :-)

I would pick the SGS ever time, desire is good but the screen on the SGS is just a lot better and the battery life is also a lot better. Once you get a decent custom rom on SGS its just the best phone ever lol. iPhone i personally would go anywhere near it with the amount of problems with the build quailty and so on which is meant to the iPhones strongest point. But in the end just pick which ever you like the most.

Seen that error fixed with a mid level eclair, worth a try. Flash JM8 > http://www.multiupload.com/FCYKST8QBO

Password = samfirmware.com

This time flash Odin with PIT 512 selected along with PDA, CSC and Modem etc, repartition & reboot enabled. If it does respond reflash JPO over without touching repartition.

ok thanks for that..I'm all ready to flash but what do i put on for CSC?

I just have CODE and MODEM files.

:)

ok...that worked .

edit: The phone is now completely working with froyo!!

Thank you very very much :):):)
