I'm surprised that annoying **** didn't start World War 3 with his dismal, self-pitying, nasal drone that passes for singing.

Utter, utter ****

why all the hate for james blunt? i've never understood it.

edit: oh i see, people dont like his music? Good reason to call some one a ****.

I love the bandwagon bashing that goes on, its lol-worthy.

I don’t have a problem with him or his music. He's been on the tv quite a few times recently and comes across as a very likeable amusing and intelligent man.

He is, he comes from near where I live. He's a nice fella who remembers his roots (he gives a lot of time to H4H and the local community).

There is also a lot of truth in what he says.

He comes across much better in interviews/panel shows than I'd have expected for some reason as he seems to have a sense of humour and not take himself too seriously. His voice still grates on me though, not his fault but it is offputting.

It's 'trendy' to rip into the lad, silly really as everytime I've seen him on the TV he comes across as a good egg and as has been said he had big enough nuts to go into battle so can't be the soft, wimply toad that many critacise him for being............from their keyboards.

I don't want to like him because of the wishy washy middle of the road music that he makes, but he seems like a really nice, funny bloke.

BBC said:
If Gen Jackson had not blocked the order from Gen Clark, who as NATO Supreme Commander Europe was his superior officer, Blunt said he would still have declined to follow it, even at the risk of a court martial.

So he didn't actually disobey any orders after all.

I think he's a bloody nice chap and he's had at least a couple of tracks out which I've downloaded. As someone earlier said. Bandwagon.

What was wrong with that article? I'm not getting the sense of self importance there. As people has said its been documented that the order was not to be followed through once it was established Russians had setup camp near it.

I also like his music, good song writer!

:)

Oh Dear James blunt the tank commander takes on the Russian Army ok mate not really what happend was it... They set up camp in the Hangers at the end of the runway and we took over the terminal building. The Guy was then and is now a complete tool...

No he didn't. That order never made it to him. In fact it didn't even make it past the general in charge of the British forces there.

technically, as Supreme Allied Commander of NATO at the Time, General Clarks' order would have superceeded Gen. Jacksons' order countermanding the attack order, so...

"But sir, couldn't we just reason with the Russians? Perhaps I could play them some irritatingly catchy, soul-numbingly shallow guitar pop? Then we'd all just get along!"

Winsome smile. Polite poshness. Smile at camera.

He refused the initial order from General Wesley Clark.

No, he questioned the order. Not the same thing at all. Besides, James Blunt wasn't commanding all the soldiers there at the time, was he?

Vasili Alexandrovich Arkhipov could make a better claim to stopping WW3, as he refused to launch a nuke against the USA and it was his choice and his choice alone that stopped it being launched.

Doing a bit of reading on Wiki led me to this guy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanislav_Petrov

Scary to think how close all out nuclear was was, and that it really did come down to the actions of one person to stop it.
