A bunch of us here are having a debate on what is a couple, as in a couple of Smarties, not the couple as in people.

So, is a couple 2 or 2 to 4 generally?

Couple is always 2 but if someone is asking for a couple of sweets, they're most likely hoping for more than 2 so on that occasion it might mean a few to them.
