What is a couple?

Whilst I know couple technically means 2, I've always used the following terms:

Couple = 3-4
Few = 5-6
Several = 7-10
Many = 11+

If there are 2, I will say two.

Slang terms allow a couple to be 'a few' lol

If you asked me to pass you a couple of oranges, id pass you 2, if you asked for a couple of smarties id say NO MINE! .. ok ok no id tip the packet until a 'few' came out

I'd say a couple is 2-3 for me
but then so is a few.

For me a couple has always been 2-4, I know it's against the grain though. If I wanted a few of my friends sweets I'd probaly say give us a couple as in 2, 3 or 4, if I wanted more I'd say give us a few. If I wanted two I'd say 'give me two' lol

I know that a couple is often percieved as a pair however for some reason it's 2-4 for me.
