What is a couple?

Speaking of which, has anyone else noticed that Americans tend to omit the "of" when using "couple" in a sentence? For instance "When I was younger I had a couple dogs". Not just informally either, I've seen it in books.

Two, anyone who thinks it's more is a swinger.

Whilst I know couple technically means 2, I've always used the following terms:

Couple = 3-4
Few = 5-6
Several = 7-10
Many = 11+

If there are 2, I will say two.

Just as i thought Krooton is a swinger:p

Seriously though a couple is 2..nothing more nothing less
