Samsung Galaxy S... highest spec Android phone released... also with QWERTY!

ok mate..do you think it's worth putting on a lag fix on this firmware?:) seems lag free atm.

How comes you know so much about modding etc.the Galaxy s?:):)
I don't bother with the lagfix any more, I don't really use more than 75 apps and I'm not really aware of any lag tbh. The modified touchwiz helps make it even smoother. I just like to experiment with it, you learn a lot reading up on the various builds and how they work.

My phone just isnt detected by Kies at all. Really annoying. Says connecting to device and doesnt do anything....

It used to work, but since updating Kies the other week its just stopped! Anyone any ideas?>!

I sorted that out by going into device manager while the phone is connected to the pc; looking for the connection and uninstalling the driver through that. Then unplug phone; put back in and then if kies still doesn't see it (after reinstalling driver )then click repair/redo driver through kies.:)

Guys, using the Doc Rom JPO, having a problem, getting 4 of everything in the gallery now! I know others have sorted this by installing Gallery 3D from the market, but whenever I try that is says install unsuccessful. Any ideas guys?!?

Thanks,

Mal

I had that problem. Copied everything from SDcard and formatted it. Sorted problem out.

I'm Still getting prompted to pick my browser as I go to load every page in there stock browser. Very annoying and not sure what is doing it. It sometimes asks me 3 times before the next page fully loads

Vodafone texted me this morning to say Froyo is now available, finally.
I gave up waiting and installed a custom ROM but this is great news for the average user who wants to improve their phone without tinkering.
Not sure about other networks but guess they are either there already or close

I got the same text. I wonder if voda will update my phone while they have it to fix.

Is anyone else getting really bad lagging with this new 2.2 froyo update. I'm getting lag with everything i do now, even writing text messages. It was fine under 2.1, had a tiny bit of lag every now and again. but now it's becoming a bit of a joke.

It's an unbranded phone with FROYO.XXJPO, kernel version 2.6.32.9 root@sep-35#1.

Yep me too lag is now horrible.

Mines gone back to CPW though because since the 2.2 update it simply will not pick up any satellites.

Back on my old N95 8GB for the minute and if I'm honest, I'm not missing the Galaxy S at all...

My unbranded phone is running perfectly
Have you tried the one click lag fix? I dont have it but it might help you

Grab the JPO firmware > http://www.multiupload.com/MX8XW7BG24

And Odin 1.7 & PIT 512 > Odin1.7_512PIT.zip

Extract them all somewhere..

Remove the sim and external SD, make sure battery is charged and ensure sure Kies is not running or tries to start.

Enter Recovery mode, clear cache, factory reset and format SD.

Reboot into Download without the phone usb connected. Open B]Odin 1.7[/b] select 512 PIT, tick repartition only don't tick reboot. Connect usb, in Odin you should see a yellow window under ID:COM with a COM port open, click start.

Once done, using the power button to power down, reboot to download mode directly.

Clear all settings/files in Odin, select JPO_JPO_U_JPP.tar as PDA. Leave everything un-ticked except reboot. Check the com is connected, if it is hit start, if all goes well a green bar will move across until the phone reboots.

Leave it to do its thing at the big S (I usually unplug USB by now, to avoid problems) wait upto 10mins first time. If it hangs try a reset and cache clear and reformat SD.

I have followed this guide but when I restart the phone I get the short tone and swirling S but then phone just sits there with a black screen and every few seconds just vibrates, I am upgrading from 2.1 XXJF3

Any help?
