Another stupid car purchase

The hydraulic clutch is a weak point on these, and either the slave cylinder or bracket will have no doubt already broken!
ZS

They are weak, thankfully not as much so on the diesels.

The free play is caused by a tiny circlip on the shaft of the master cylinder 'pinging' off into oblivion, never to be seen again. This limits the travel, and most have now fallen off so the pedal sits stupidly high.

The kit I make lowers it to an acceptable level.

Rover spec is truely ridiculous. My girlfriend had a Rover 400 which had alloy wheels, a rear spoiler... and windup windows

Bit like my Fiesta then, fogs, alloys and a spoiler yet I have wind up windows

Yep, totally agree.
Spec is definitely not the reason people buy a ZS, or indeed any Rover apart from a 75 Connoisseur maybe.

Wind up windows front and rear, or just rear? Does seem like they cut costs on the practical options in favour of external styling.

At least they stopped making rovers. Vauxhall still sells new cars with manual winders.
Mechanically rovers are pretty decent actually, and on bodywork. The MGZS 180 is a nice car, pretty much the same in body and capabilities of a VTI-S Civic except the MG can go up hills of course.
