Call of Duty: Black Ops

Having played lots of games with Mcluvin/Spongebob, I can vouch that he is a good player.

Something doesn't seem to click for him though with Black Ops, and to be fair, there is the odd occasion it happens to me as well.

Example, one game last night, it took a full clip of the FAMAS to drop someone to last stand, however the next game when I was host using the AK74u I was dropping people with 2/3 bullets.

It's so inconsistent.

I'll agree to a point that it is inconsistent. There's times stuff like this happens to me too but I just get over it, I'm by no means an amazing player, just average, but it has never taken me a full clip with any weapon, 30 bullets all hitting the target with the cross showing the hits in quick succession and him not dying, it sounds like a slight exaggeration that's all. It's taken me a full clip when I've missed most of the shots, but not 30+ bullets hitting the guy.

Has happened to me so many times, an entire clip into someone (can hear the noise it makes when you are getting hit markers) and they still don't die.

Then other times they are dead with 3 or so bullets.

Ive played with him aswell, but whenever I did my hit detection was poor, Id lose one on ones and he would have massive K/D ratios as I assume he was host so didnt really bother anymore. I guess hes just on the otherside of the coin now and doesn't like mediocre scorecards.

Im sure Treyarch and MW2 suit different peoples connections differently as there always seems to be mared deviations.

He is a good player , just I think the game doesn't suite his style of play, I was really poor at this but I think I am starting to get better , it just feels so much different from mw2 and for some reason it's taking me ages to get used to it.I can't stand playing Dom or tdm because the spawning is dreadful , like last night I spawned on Havana match only for two on opposite team to spawn behind me and knife me in back . I will find the vid on my theatre, it was a real pee take!

Well, there must be something wrong in how he plays (inc his video posted). Hardly anyone else seems to be suffering the same way he is. I've play a lot and I'm consistently good in all game types - I don't have games where I can't get two kills in a row, or complain that the host has a massive advantage and is killing me over and over.

Perhaps your net connection isn't up to it.

Right, so he is excellent at (I assume) MW2, but not at this? A lot of people got to a high standard on MW2 (having been out for a year) and those same people are having to re-learn this game to a degree and you, I, and seemingly most others on here seem to be getting on just fine.

What is his style of play exactly that it suited MW2 but not Black Ops?

I'm not being funny here, just curious at what has changed SO much for him that he is unable to get on with this game.

You can run and gun on MW2 and do well with a good aim. Black Ops rewards camping as running and gunning is impossible.

When I say camping I mean, waiting for someone to appear and shoot them before running somewhere else to wait again. Sometimes you will hit jackpot though and where you are looking, already aiming down the sights, is where the other team start spawning.

The only thing consistent is that was exactly the same in COD4/MW2/WaW and now in this. Anyone that doesn't realise that by now and it bugs should go play something else.

People are griping about stuff as though it's new to this game when the very last games of this were exactly the same. If anything with the local search (when MM works, which isn't often yet) it's a bit better for me.

What they need to realise is these games need a beta to iron out early MM issues and glitches, Cod 4 and Waw worked much better for having a beta from day one.

The same people complaining about this and saying they are going back to MW2 are the same ones saying MW2 was **** and they were going back to COD4. I suggest they lob COD4 into the drive to see how much that has dated.

I completely disagree. It's quite easy to run and gun on this.
What people need to remember is that some are still learning the maps and until they do they will be more comfortable moving around cautiously and camping every now and again to see what are common places for people to be coming from and going to.

I really don't get why people are moaning about this game, yes it has its flaws but overall it is brilliant, a nice fresh aproach to the carnage that was MW2.

Nothing rewards camping as much as MW2 and I should know. If running and gunning was impossible in black ops you wouldn't have so many people doing so well running around the spawn points.

I find this game as easy to run and gun as Cod4.

I think the main fustration is that now both IW and Treyarch are on their second iteration of a complete game and they can't fix things. Sure a patch is limited for COD4 and WAW but the second iteration should be able to fix these issues from the foundations of the game.

unfortunately though with Black ops the host advantage seems massive. I have a 20meg BB connection and it is very clear when you are host or not without having to look at connection bars.

Completely agree. Blinding game. Glad to see the back of MW2 in some respects, although it was still a lot of fun.

Rubbish. I 'run and gun' all the time.

It's not rubbish. Maybe run and gun was the wrong way of putting it.

On MW2 and COD4 you could be clipped by a few stray rounds and be able to return fire and win the 1 on 1s.

Black ops seems to be whoever fires first wins. Was the same as WAW, the red markers appear to indicate where bullets are coming from but before you can react you are already dead. This is what makes me think that the Treyarch games need a different approach. Its probably why a lot of people are not doing as well in Black ops as in MW2.

Even if you are running you often die after you have gone around the corner (this is in the game - not based on killcams) after someone has just sprayed a load of rounds in your direction. On IW games you could get clipped as going into cover and then return fire.

I'm not 'moaning' about the game, this is just my opinion on the playstyles required for each of the devs. two games

Which is surely more realistic, no? How is that a problem with the game?

Other than having dedicated servers (which I presume with Live in place this can't happen) what can they do? They've added location filters which do improve things quite a lot.

Personally, it's a non-issue for me. Certainly doesn't take away any of the fun.

Did you ever have pavelow as a killstreak?

If you camped on MW2 that is where you get nukes. You don't get 9kill streaks running around
