My New Car is a SRI 1.6 Turbo 180 bhp

It's a whopping 2 people ( 163kg's) heavier than a 2.0 Focus...

Still, I didn't realize how heavy cars became these days.

I'm betting side impact bars, crumple zones, extra strength passenger cages, airbags all round, air con, sat nav and various other options add up to a good couple of hundred KG!
An older car with all those things didn't weigh as much as this ! Though I'm also surprised at the big wheelbase, this class of cars is really ''growing''.

Congrats, I guess. Not the most inspiring purchase but if you like it then that's all that matters :)

Has anyone got an options list (ideally an exploded diagram but I think thats a bit much) showing a comparison between say a 1990's Astra and this Astra?

Well in my 04 MK4 SRi which is the 1998 to 04 series I get cruise control (my 01 sri didn't have this), 16" alloys, sport seats, cd player (no aux in or usb) electric front windows, air con, driver and passenger air bags, traction control and a vanilla magic tree. Pretty basic but then they had a list price of 13k and were comparable with the competition at the time.

IIRC from the literature reasonable impact safety.

I've only had a very quick nose around a new Astra but it seems to be much better that the old model.

1.6T would be my choice if I didn't want a hot model.

Get some more pics up, not seen on of these on the road yet? What is the interior like? The old one was horrible!

There are some wimpy butt hurt cry babies who don't like it when posters, particularly the elite club members, constructiively or otherwise, criticise peoples decisions, no matter how terrible they are.

Henceforth, Motors is now a place to congratulate upon the purchase of new items of motorised vehicular transport. :)
