I understand what you are saying but the Police were happy to lock up EDL members at the time of the protest.
If the EDL members were actively violent, or physically threatening I suspect the rules change, compared to say a fairly vocal but peaceful protest.
Without knowing what else was going on, or when it's hard to comment, as the police tactics do vary a lot depending on the intelligence they have as to the likely hood of violence, or how much flak they've taken over their tactics in similar protests (IIRC the protest the other day by the students wasn't contained in the same way as some other recent protests partly because the Police got crucified by the media* for using containment tactics with more officers in full protective gear**).
The EDF have, from memory a history of violence in their protests, which will mean the police are much more likely to step in early (especially if any offence is clear cut, and they can do it without raising the risk of violence), I don't think the protest by the idiot minority of the Muslims have the same history of violent protests.

The onus is on the person gullible enough to believe and then post an outlandish claim to actually provide verifiable evidence to support said claim.

It's still a wild, outlandish claim with nothing in the way of reputable evidence to back it up. A harsh response, maybe, but in this sense I think the burden of proof really is on you.
