IMEI NUMBER

I think after paying for the phone the guy deserves the IMEI number.
It helps when your phone's been stolen, you need it when calling your network providor & many other things I forget.
What's the problem with giving him it? He paid for the phone he should have it.

Incorrect. An IMEI is linked to a handset and cannot be changed.

Trust me, I work in the business. ;)

Trust me, I work in the business too. you CAN change a handsets IMEI number despite it being illegal to do so.

if you couldn't why would ANYONE bother stealing peoples phones?

When we researched large scale handset thefts last time. We found out that over 90% get taken to Europe.

People steal phones as they can sell them on as more often than not, a handset will not be barred on the network and if it does, the process takes a few weeks by which time the thief will have already sold the handset on.

I admit that you can chnage the IMEI on some handsets but not all and only mainly on older models. I was not aware of this as I only work on larger scale fraud so apologies.

HELLO TO YOU TOO, DID YOU FIND YOUR ANSWER IN THIS THREAD?

I was referring to the CAPITALISED title.

Seriously, haven't people figured out that capitals are the same as shouting online?

Spelling kgi! SERIOUSLY!

I know it was in capitals, realised caps lock was on but could'nt be arsed to go back and change it.

Right, i'm gonna give him the IMEI number, he has'nt replied since i told him he could'nt have it. I've got the money in my paypal acc so in theory it's legally his IMEI number anyway.

I just want to double check that he won't be able to reverse the charge for the phone through paypal somehow?? i'm don't know the ins and outs of paypal so i'm not sure if this is possible. But if he is a fraudster then obviously he might know a way round the system.

Cheers guys.

that's not actually true though. an IMEI number and the phone it's from can be used to replace the barred IMEI on a stolen phone which will then be usable again.

this is true.

also here is the t-mobile imei checker 07956125820 but it works for phones on any network
