Xbox 360..Hard drive really needed?

Where do you get that from? the USB stick can be used exactly the same way as a hard drive. I still believe it would be better for him to buy the 250GB model and save money but giving false information doesn't help him pick.

Some game require a hard drive, if you look on the back of the box it tells you, and some games dont count the usb sticks as a hard drive.

Quick question, can i go the external hdd route with a 4gb slim or that not practical?

Just get a cheap original xbox 360 hard drive and remove it from the case and plug it in its so easy to do and saves money if like me you have no need for 250gb...

I have also used a usb flash and it works just like a hard drive so games requiring a hard drive work fine with the flash...You are limited to 16gb which is a pain..

I heard reach has issues if you don't have a hdd. Shame really as the 4GB is a lot cheaper than the HDD version.
It's only £50 difference though which isn't a bad price for a 250gb Xbox HDD, most 2nd hand 120gb HDD's go for around £30-40 and I think most 4gb owners will soon see the value of having a hard drive and even if they buy one of the older ones and do the ghetto jiggery pokery to try and make it fit they won't really have made much of a financial saving on an old drive which may or may not have it's usefulness patched out in a dash update when MS start selling the new drives separately (it's always a risk, knowing M$).

I bit the bullet and got the 250gb one (although I traded in my old one and a few games so it didn't cost me hardly any cash) and have never looked back. All my games are installed and still have 90gb space - I love that I'll never have to worry about what space things I'm downloading / installing will need.
