The horror that is Birmingham New Street

I thought they were modernising New St soon? So it'll look ok for a bit, but its the people who hang about there that will drag the image down, as with any area.

Its being done up for a ridiculous amount of money, a few Million I think?

I've lived here almost 4 years and never had any trouble, been to some of the spots posters are describing and never had any issues, perhaps people are just feeling intimidated?

I've been to worse cities over the years. And New Street is certainly not the worst Train Station I've been to, that award goes to Exeter St Davids ;)

New Street's not too bad. The center of the city isn't bad to be honest. It's when you get to the areas further out things get dodgier

new street isn't all that bad. they are re-developing it soon, i only advise no one eats within a 2 mile radius of the place as the rats will all be looking for a new home. actually, i'd advise no one eat within a 2 mile radius of it as it is!

Moi?

Birmingham has the smallest indigenous population by percentage of many of the major British cities. In 2007, it was estimated[14] 33.3% of its population was non-white, whereas London, commonly seen as the most diverse of British cities was 30.4% non-white. This is compared to Liverpool which was only 7.7% non-white

If the cap fits?

So Birmingham has problems due to it's large number of non whites? Then in the same quote you've got Liverpool with only 7.7% non whites.

If ever there was a shining example of correlation does not = causation.

Northern and proud :D

London is overpriced, over populated and infested by everything sour with the human race. Never been to a city that has such an ignorant populace. At least brummies talk(in a fashion) instead of the occasional grunt.

finally got my other half to move back up north with me last year and never been happier, hated living in the south :( and as for birmingham new street, everytime i had to go there my train was delayed 9/10 around 50% of the time was because of suicide attempts :S

Liverpool I never said it had a problem so whats your point?

600 million is the figure attached to the project.

I agree that it's a pretty grim mainline station but then given it's got a shopping centre stuck over the top of it it would be.

The redevelopment plans for it look pretty awesome.

:p

Nothing bad about trains, just most of the north of England (and yes Birmingham is north)...

Have you never been past the watford gap or something,Birmingham is not the north of england,i live in the north of england and are 200 miles from brummy lol
