***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

What's the difference between 'standard' and 'premium' cars in this game? Please tell me they don't mean premium as in we have to buy them... :(

Standard cars = someone clicked import on the GT4 car list
Premium cars = done properly. High res textures, more detailed models and cockpit view.

OK, so I'm taking liberties slightly but it's essentially true...

Premium cars are of a higher quality, standard are imported from either GTPSP or GT4. Don't panic however as the models made for those games were modelled at a higher level than their equivalent system could handle then downscaled so it doesn't look like a GT4 car driving around on the track, just a less detailed car.

The PSP ones look awful so far though, i'm reserving judgement until i've seen it for myself.

At present there's no extra paid-for content, everything is on the disk.

Very much expecting a fair bit of DLC though and as long as its reasonably priced then i hope there is.

Also a day 1 patch/update is very possible, the game went gold the best part of a month ago and I doubt PD stopped working on it.

Thanks Streeteh, would have thought that after 5 years in development they would have re-done all the cars from scratch, doesn't sound like the old Polyphony i'm used to.

Could anyone give me a link to some comparison screenshots please? Google just brings up news about this game :/

Took me 2 days - over 150Gb in the end and Ive not even put in my game discs to update yet...

ps3ud0

Yeah, that's going to be the not fun part :o

At least the only game I will own is GT5 but I do have a very long list of PSN games. Some of which I don't need to re-download such as Burnout since I have 100% completion :)

I think it looks meh, I'm going to hold my judgement till I get the game though. The bumper looks like it has bent inwards which should have cracked the lights but instead they've bent in as well.

This might be a PSP car!

Those off screenshots of gameplay dont look bad, about as good as Forza 3 in game models and lighting is far better than FM3. Cant compare with the replay models as yet as Forza model switches and GT5 doesnt, just adds a few more motion effects and more AA.
Anyone who has the game done a walk around the tracks yet ala martin brundle, if so who wants to walk round the Ring lol.

I read somewhere that each car takes a month to do ingame so probably why only 200 odd are premium instead of all but i also cant say if that was facts or what people have just made up your guess is as good as mine , from people that have the game and have posted on gt planet a few have said the standard cars are fine .

Come on, FM3 models are much better than the standard cars in GT5.

FM3 only uses higher detailed cars in the photo mode, not replays.
