***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

I don't think GT5P had any tearing, I don't remember any. But this isn't GT5P is it...

The worst game I have played for tearing was MotoGP 06 on the 360. It run the full height of the display and was there for a couple of seconds. Made it unplayable for me.

Every other aspect of the game may be great, I just hope if it is an issue it doesn't get ignored in reviews where other games would be picked up on it. Whats the point in great graphics if the system can't handle them 100% of the time.

GT5P did have tearing. The PS3 is well known for screen tearing. Heavy Rain was a complete mess with it, uncharted was as well.

I shouldn't really say this... But I will, but the PS3 as great as it can be, its really not that powerful and has a very weak GPU and not enough VRAM and GT5 is from the looks of it pushing it too hard.

I'd rather have less eye candy and smooth frames. Oh well, guess I'll wait for my copy and make my mind up.

have to admit, not really all that excited anymore. Cracks appeared and excitement reduced. Please the gf if i don't like it. She has plans next weekend anyhow.... lol

I don't know if I should order it now from shopto, or try get it on the day when I finish work at 5?

edit: NVM they can only ship to the address where the card is, I'm at a different address all week!

edit2: dammit the local 'gaming shop' shuts at 5:30 :(

Some of you guys need to judge the game for yourself by actually playing it instead of discounting it on what X, Y or Z has said on the Internet.

I noticed it in GT5 Prologue, I noticed it in the Heavy Rain Demo, but I didn't notice any at all in Uncharted 2, or are you talking about the original Uncharted cos I haven't played that. :)

From what ive read its a couple of tracks with all cars in view in cockpit at 1080P that gives you some screen tearing and frame issues, its much better at 720P and frame rate is more stable on the problem tracks, its also 4XAA rather 2XAA at this res.
Face it, its not a high end PC game, its doing more than any other console driving game has done and in the premium cars looks better than any other car game. No game is ever perfect, and if people make a few issues a reason not to get this then fine, you can all moan about it not being the perfect game while we drive around having fun. :D

I spotted it in all of those games, I am sure he means the 1st Uncharted which had large amounts of tearing.

Tearing is annoying tbh, especially in a title that has been in production forever. The only thing that is worse is the people who put their fingers in their ears shouting "lallalalalalalal there is no tearing it is your TV lalalalalal" :)

I think the overall point is why is their tearing. The 1st PS3 games had it years ago, you would think that in such a high profile multi million dollar game they would have figured out how to get rid of it, or sacrificed something else to avoid it.

p.s. Are you posting on behalf of Mr Latte (see italics!)

tearing lasts but a fraction of a second.

so will (if present) it dampen your gaming experience?

All games come with the occasional glitch/fault. And I for one don't care how much money these developers spend.

All that matters to me is that the game is good and the price is reasonable.

Exactly, for such a high profile game and a game where most will buy a PS3 and will be one of their first games to be played having screen tearing is a huge oversight and they know its there. PD will have seen it, but anyhow its just something after all this time they could have found a way around.

I do love the comments by those who say "nah I can't see it, its your TV etc" always make me laugh...

And it was uncharted 1 I was talking about. I played the demo and it tore badly - lost sale as I couldn't be bothered with it. I got Heavy Rain and didn't know it suffered from tearing until I played it.. Man that game as riddled with tearing, for what was meant to be an interactive story, the tearing soon wrecked any notion of that game being any such thing..

I will wait till I play it tbh. It is never enough to stop me enjoying a game, but in GT5P for instance, it was on quite a few corners on the London track (my favourite) and that got annoying after a few races as it was always in the same place.

I don't know why there seems to be such an opposition to criticism in this thread, most of it is quite muted and it's not as if anyone is saying they won't buy the game due to the small faults it has? But I think people are entitled to say what they do or don't like about a game, even if it is speculation. That is part of the point in this thread existing months before the game is actually released.

A few people were playing this in work today. I only had a passing look but i could see noticeable tearing when turning. I wouldnt say it was overly worse than anything else and would not stop me enjoying the game but it is there..

I'll be waiting for all the annoyed posts tomorrow when people's copies don't arrive. It's always the same for big releases like FM3, F1 2010, Black Ops etc.

You do realise that Royal Mail will hold onto big consignments for delivery on specified date? If you're lucky then it might arrive the day before.

Now i don't get this because i have put **** loads of hours into heavy rain seeing all the endings etc and never seen any screen tearing.

Maybe some of you are just simply too fussy

*edit* In fact if you can name me a particularly bad section i will go take a look now.

OT: Heavy Rain tearing is well documented, by users and reviewers. It is not people being fussy. Google 1st next time. You are not the only one who put hours into the game!! Some of the tearing in the game is terrible.

Been a while since I played it, but the opening crime scene as Jayden arrives in his car had it iirc. And all through that level.

I don't have the game anymore :(

When you are in the disco/party and you move between people I recall that being quite bad as well.

Anyway, this is highly off topic, but I have given examples and references you were after.
