Undercover Police bike following an EVO on some country roads...

IIRC Isle of Man does not have a speed limit. That's what I remember the top gear lot saying.

Damn I need to go live there, that road looks epic. Definetely a good home for cars like EVO and Subaru's. :)

Also proof that speed does not kill, they guy driving that EVO seems to push past 150mph at times, the police biker goes even faster. Yet he does not pull him over which I guess is because even though the speeds involved were crazy the EVO was never out of control or been pushed to the ragged edge.

It was fast but in control. :)

Driving on the Isle of Man

Driving a car in the Isle of Man is broadly similar to driving in the United Kingdom, and most traffic regulations are the same. As in the UK people drive on the left hand side of the road.
Unlike the UK there is no national speed limit. There are speed restrictions in built up areas, but after passing a 'National Speed Limit' sign there ceases to be any speed restriction, although people driving in a reckless manner may well be stopped by the police.

Time to buy a Evo 6 and warp speed by police.

That is excellent, no speed limits and as long as your not stupid, wreckless or out of control the police are happy for you to zoom along a country/national speed road at speeds of around 150mph and happily take corners above 100mph.

Its nice to see such rules and even better to see police not even bothing with that EVO driver. :)

That's why Top Gear does most of their filming there when testing out cars. I remember them doing the M3 CSL on the Isle of Man, however, I could be wrong.

It's a lovely place, well what seems like, to drive a nice performance car around.

I haven't been so can't really say much else on the matter.

Bike was **** slow. Probably a BMW R1150RT as it sounds like a tractor when going slow. Would have been interesting on something faster.

That's the mountain road, very fast road that with stunning scenery.
I went in June and the roads are sublime, the best were the country lanes which were brilliant fun!

I'll be going back next year for certain.

Neil.

Yep it's quite nice having no speed limit on most of the roads there. Check out the TT races if you want to see some crazy speeds, it's worth mentioning that if you do crash at 100mph+ though then you probably won't live to tell the tale, on 2 wheels or 4... But as long as you're not stupid then I think it's good that there places other than the Autobahn which have no speed limits.

The IOM could be the new ring trip for UKers, surprised not many people realise their NSL is restricted, although I think it was rumoured that they wanted to impose a limit at some stage.

It is dangerous though, some stages have little room for error and there's still local traffic to anticipate. Might have to organise a trip over one day :)

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a special license where, if you owned a car meeting strict criteria and took some form of advanced test, you would be allowed to drive at higher limits on certain roads in certain conditions? :(
