***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

That or the Devs arent up to scratch....

Please dont turn this into a 360 v ps3 war.

I thought this forum was full of grown ups lol

I wasn't trying to, but there you go.

The two consoles are different. Each is better at different things. As I understand it, the PS3 has better architecture overall, but is harder to code for and has a weaker GPU. That's not flame war territory, it's just fact. Either can be used well - the PS3 has shedloads of great games, after all.

However, it's perfectly possible that the reason GT5 struggles with shadows and volumetric fog is because of the GPU.

So was my mistake mentioning the 360 in the same breath? Well, apologies for that. Let's try again: Does the PS3 GPU struggle with shadows and volumetric fog? Apparently, yes it does. Either that or Polyphony aren't using it properly.

The "Driving Challenges" on GT PSP were very easy, only 4 of 102 I failed to get gold on. I never played 4 myself, if I went back to it it would feel horrible :o

Will tri IC-1 when I get back with tinkered settings :)

Ah yeah the psp one was pretty easy, I hardly played it though (hands are too big for the psp really)

Some of the gt4 ones were beyond impossible! There was a lap of the ring as the final test in the old amg merc 92 gt car in something like 7 mins 30 seconds... Easy enough to bronze by coasting but to gold took a perfect lap...

Havnt checked to see if the harder tests have something like that... (cost me a few pads last game)

Small question does it have the penalizing system when you touch bumpers or go over a chicanes?

In License tests you get disqualified. In early races you don't but I should imagine in some of the later races you will.

Could be quite annoying if you are near the end of a long race and get disqualified!

Who knows.... I dont spend time studying the shadows...... But lets just say it does have problems...... Is it worth going into a debate over?

This has possibly put me off then why oh why would they do this. :(

getting stuck into the licences now.

Any way to turn off auto-save?

i take it you can re-map the button for the horn then?, first race and the horn was going off on every corner... :)

Yes you can, so you've finally got bored of AC Botherhood? lol

As for the horn you can remap to a directional pad button or something... I noticed it would go off if using a PS3 pad. What a silly place to have it, the button assigments defaults are a poor choice I felt.

omfg that's just sent some nasty thoughts into my head.

Hope they add some kind of rewind feature in a patch, or simply relax the penalties a bit.
