Hi guys, just wanted some advice. My cat has become pretty wild and stays outdoors all the time and just comes in for food and back out. I didn't get him neutured but at the end of the day I didn't think he would get that wild. He hisses at you and attacks you.

Any idea what to do with him? He is almost 4yrs old now.

Need to get him socialable and friendly again, even if I need to force him. Advice would be good though.

He is being Alpha. Dont take it away from him, the other cats will cuss him for being a jaffa!!

you should really get him done - its irresponsible as a cat owner not to - there are more than enough cats getting put down every year because they aren't wanted.

If you want to keep him in for a bit you can get a feloway diffuser that should calm him down a bit as well, it releases a pheromone that tells the cat its safe so generally calms them down

Any other tips apart from that? Its ok to get them him done then at this age?

not really, what else do you think you can do ? you can't send him to finishing school or keep him locked in, so unless you want to start spiking your cats food with bromine the only way forward is to take is crown jewels away, therefore removing the source of what is making him go all alpha on you

Ok will book him in asap, got to keep him indoors which is going to be difficult if he hardly comes home. The feloway diffuser seems like a good idea, will look into it.
Thanks guys.

OP, there practically isn't a way to sort the problem you have unless you get it's nuts chopped off. Simple.

The hormones he has right now are telling him to stay outside, fight other males and look for some kitty poon tang to nail. If you get his nuts chopped it will help but it sounds like he has got to the age where it might be hard to break a habit. He might still stay outdoors but will hopefully lose the violent streak and become a little more affectionate.

The earlier you get them done the more the chance male cat syndrome doesn't kick in, but regardless, cutting them off is an quick and easy fix. Especially for a boy. It only costs £40-£50 or so depending on your vet.

You have to fight him to the death I am afraid. It's the only way. Only one of you can survive.

We had a cat that did that, and after a while we just had her put down and got another one.

Glad I could be of help ..

Just be aware that the feliway diffuser's can cause problems rather than solve them with some cats. Our male cat (who had been neutered) started weeing on everything whilst ours was plugged in, we unplugged it and it stopped.

We can only assume that the pheromones were making him feel that he needed to assert his 'ownership' on stuff 'cos nothing smelt right.

Additionally, we had also purchased a spray which is meant to have the same effect. We used it on a beanbag that he'd previously marked and he never went near it again. The pheromones are supposed to help them feel comforted, if that's the case we expected he'd be alright with it, but in actual fact, he would act scared of it from then on!

In answer to your aggression problem, +1 on the getting him chopped suggestion :)
