Nope, I've started lots from the grid.
Don't be silly. GT4 looked great for it's time, but you are looking at it through rose-tinted glasses. Connect a PS2 up to a HDTV and play GT4 and tell me it looks better than GT5.

I think what you meant to say is that when GT4 was introduced it was shockingly good compared to other games at that time and now with GT5 the difference between it and other games is small.
Trust me, I played GT4 on my launch PS3 and I wished I hadn't done it, I had great memories about it looking brilliant but the experience was worse when I played it recently.
GT5 was released to late in the consoles life cycle. If it came out earlier it would have recieved a much better response but there are now other games that are pushing the PS3 hard. So the Wow factor is not as it would have been 3 years ago. They took way too long over it and have produced an average game too late.
What lets it down is the vast amount of standard cars.
The wow factor is in the game play, online feats and premium cars.
I'm more than happy with my purchase!
Plus removing the youtube upload feature is criminal tbh. One of the few things that the PS3 SDK has that 360 doesn't is built in support for uploading to Youtube directly and their biggest game, to date, leaves it out.

Played for an hour today, the go karts are frustrating but so much fun when you get over the slightly unpredictable nature of them....
Did the first top gear track challenge with the campers (only an amateur as I havnt the time to level up loads yet) took about 8 attempts to learn the limits of shunting the campers and where you cant cut the follow-through!! It's not that hard as the AI just has no ambition for the 2nd to last corner (took it flat out and got disqualified once for punting a car off..)
Love the game though, all the odd little niggles sort of just remind me of the older ones in a nice way... Only complaint is the changed the bit of Laguna Seca out of the first corner back to more like in gt3 (got a feeling its more like the real track but I felt the gt4 set up was more fun)
