***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

2 updates in 2 weeks (1 for 27th, 1 for 1st Dec) is very impressive. I must confess I expected them to ignore the flaws and plough ahead with paid for DLC, like a lot of other current gen games. Last driving game with loads of bugs (F1 2010) took over a week just to accept flaws existed, let alone attempt to fix them!!

First party games are usually supported very well, especially from Sony's end. This level of support is exactly what I expected thankfully :)

Wind noise is really quiet. Unless I'm missing a sound option somewhere it's no where near as loud as GT4 or GT5P. I really liked the high wind noise when you got up above 120 mph ish, gave an extra sense of speed.

I was quite happy to see another update, but after reading the full article I'm quite disappointed, PD are coming accross as really naive/arrogant or something, I can't believe that online is going to take weeks/months and possibly longer before it remotely rivals what is considered the 'norm' out there..

I know that's harsh, and a bit of a rant, but honestly, even the 500K server connection issue is just a schoolboy error..

And, there seems absolutely no PP system in GT5, how the hell are they going to handle that side of things, weight/power are not the best differentiators for performance by a long chalk..

I'll be all calm later, I'm sure, but Online leaderboards/organised races is what I really spend most of my time on, once the SP fluff is out the way..

It's very much a Japanese game and I love that they haven't changed the feel from other GT games.

I get the feeling that most players have moved on with the western version of what is expected as standard, with emphasis on online competitive aspects that I personally couldn't care less about.

Id be interested to see the average Japanese gamers opinion of GT5.

It's very much a Japanese game

Nail. Head.

This is exactly my feeling when I played this.

I work for a Japanese company and am accustomed to "Japanese tastes" so to speak. And have to say that GT4/GT5P oozed this, GT5 even more so.

I can see why some people are going to loathe it. Frankly speaking for the amount of hype and delays behind the game I have to say the end product its not all that. However had the game been released as any other normal game, I feel expectations would not have been raised as they have been due to the delays over the past 2 years.

However, for me its a tidy game, and it will keep me occupied for many hours, weeks and months on end.

I sold 3 kidneys and have the fanatec Porsche Turbo S ultimate edition. (just the wheel + clubsport pedals) It's working out well, especially the onboard menu/configurability, I've set up a preset for Karts with much finer control around center, and added one notch of steering deadband to reduce the tankslapper effect on some circuits!

If I wasn't bothered about 360 support, I'd have waited for theiruch cheaper 911 carrera wheel, just as configurable and comes with shifters etc but £150.

Could you post your settings up please? I've just upgraded to the 681 firmware so my settings are all over the shop.

Off the top of my head

Normal Driving Preset
SENS 230
FF 70
SHO 100
DEA 10
ABS 45 (for clubsport pedals)
LIN 0

DRI 0

Karting Preset
SENS 290
FF 70
SHO 100
DEA 0

I prefer 'quick steering', it really helps me in getting to max lock as quickly as possible

3 updates you mean? There was the original 133mb one as well!

Am I the only one that likes the idea of as many updates as possible? I seem to remember decent stuff being added to GT5P, hopefully GT5 will be the same.

So where are all the wet/snow tracks at? I am on Professional A spec right now and just finished the GT Cup and still have not seen a wet or snow track other then Arcade mode.

Also disappointing to find out that the Veyron is non premium :(
