If your going to come out with stupid statements like that then just GTFO seriously, even I've been criticising certain aspects of this games graphics but they are noway as bad as you infer, in fact overall they are very good, but just not quite up to what we was expecting from PD.
EDIT -
It seems you've edited that out of your post now, but anyway I still think your being a bit to harsh on the graphics, I have issues with them also but they are not bad, and with regards to F1 2010, DIRT 2 and Forza 3 looking better I think that's more to do with your preferred artistic styling, those games looking amazing but they have a more 'cartoonish' look to them, (I don't mean that as a downplay), where as GT tries to go for a more realistic graphical styling which is a lot harder to do.
FFS I give up... When I mentioned a game looking 10 years old it was more in relation to my Half-life example and just general observation. I was not saying GT5 looked ten years old, thought that was pretty obvious taking the rest of paragraph into context... If you notice I went on to talk about GT5 specifically on the very next paragraph
Second, it has bugger all to do with artistic styling. Sure there are some aspects which are great. To quote myself "
GT5 has some impressive visuals. We have seen what GT5 can do, it can look bloody good" See what I said there? I complemented the game. Got that? Understood it OK.
I then went onto to say that SOME aspects are sub-standard, and they are. Tracks like Laguna look crap by todays standards, the textures are extremely low res, because like the standard cars they have been ported directly from PS2. We know this, I'm not just making it up.
So that makes the game very inconsistent. Sure the best parts of GT5 have a very realistic look to them. But because so many cars and tracks are imported from GT4 it makes the game inconsistent. Where as the previously mentioned games have a consistent high standard, and therefore looks more complete overall.
I actually saw a good screen shot yesterday comparing GT and Forza. I'll try and dig it out.
Edit. Have Them
GT5
Forza 3
First off both games look great.
But the main points that stand out for me are; (Premium) car models look better in GT5
While Forza 3 is over-saturated a little, GT is a little unsaturated. Another issue here is inconsistency and settings on TV's. So people are going to experience the games slightly differently.
GT5's 2D back drops are low res 2D and look a little out of place.
Now the city tracks in GT5 look great. But I believe graphically Forza 3 does more things right than GT5 and overall looks like a better game regardless of the cartoony look.
But if you just want to compare premium cars and photo mode, GT5 has the definite edge.
