***The Official Gran Turismo 5 Thread***

So what ? Who cares ? Why pollute fora with negative sentiments ?

- The game has bad tearing - So some people experience. Not everyone experiences that.
- Damage has still not been included properly - So what. Soon come as they say in JA.
- You can't upgrade the brakes, at all - At the moment - A serious flaw but not a game killer.
- The standard cars look rubbish - So what ? Who looks at the cars ? I'm too busy driving.
- Shadow detail is awful - Agreed, nothing which can't be fixed.
- Load times suck - They always have done. They may improve.

My glass is half full as is (I suspect) 98% of other GT5 owners who do not populate any fora.

With reference to your statement on the shadows, how do you know this is an easy fix? If it were easy it wouldn't of been in the final product.

fixing the tearing issue is probably easier than the shadow's.

standard cars that look worse than the cars in TDU 1 ( 2006 this came out ) is unacceptable.

Mines installing now :)

Really stuck on if to use the GT Driving force wheel and peddles, seems a waste if i don't but really can't be bothered to move ps3 down stairs.

Anyone using the wheel? What's it like? Working well with the game?

Also Im guessing a internet connection will be needed for this game to be played properly?

The easiest way to fix the shadows issue is to look at it, laugh, say "that's rubbish" then ignore it, like I did.

Simple, immediate, zero cost fix.

If people find GT5 unacceptable why don't they bin the game and move on ?

What benefit is derived from complaining on forums ? Surely a letter to Sony PD would be more productive ?

the shadows don't overly bother me, but it does look crap and shouldnt be there.
Im not finding it unacceptable per se, But how people can give it 10/10 is abit loony to say the least.

Do you honestly think writing a letter to sony / PD would get a response? i've got more chance off the queen.

If your going to come out with stupid statements like that then just GTFO seriously, even I've been criticising certain aspects of this games graphics but they are noway as bad as you infer, in fact overall they are very good, but just not quite up to what we was expecting from PD.

EDIT -

It seems you've edited that out of your post now, but anyway I still think your being a bit to harsh on the graphics, I have issues with them also but they are not bad, and with regards to F1 2010, DIRT 2 and Forza 3 looking better I think that's more to do with your preferred artistic styling, those games looking amazing but they have a more 'cartoonish' look to them, (I don't mean that as a downplay), where as GT tries to go for a more realistic graphical styling which is a lot harder to do.

FFS I give up... When I mentioned a game looking 10 years old it was more in relation to my Half-life example and just general observation. I was not saying GT5 looked ten years old, thought that was pretty obvious taking the rest of paragraph into context... If you notice I went on to talk about GT5 specifically on the very next paragraph

Second, it has bugger all to do with artistic styling. Sure there are some aspects which are great. To quote myself "GT5 has some impressive visuals. We have seen what GT5 can do, it can look bloody good" See what I said there? I complemented the game. Got that? Understood it OK.

I then went onto to say that SOME aspects are sub-standard, and they are. Tracks like Laguna look crap by todays standards, the textures are extremely low res, because like the standard cars they have been ported directly from PS2. We know this, I'm not just making it up.

So that makes the game very inconsistent. Sure the best parts of GT5 have a very realistic look to them. But because so many cars and tracks are imported from GT4 it makes the game inconsistent. Where as the previously mentioned games have a consistent high standard, and therefore looks more complete overall.

I actually saw a good screen shot yesterday comparing GT and Forza. I'll try and dig it out.

Edit. Have Them
GT5
Forza 3

First off both games look great.
But the main points that stand out for me are; (Premium) car models look better in GT5
While Forza 3 is over-saturated a little, GT is a little unsaturated. Another issue here is inconsistency and settings on TV's. So people are going to experience the games slightly differently.
GT5's 2D back drops are low res 2D and look a little out of place.
Now the city tracks in GT5 look great. But I believe graphically Forza 3 does more things right than GT5 and overall looks like a better game regardless of the cartoony look.

But if you just want to compare premium cars and photo mode, GT5 has the definite edge.

Then I'm a loony :D I don't have a 360, I haven't played Forza, I have missed the GT series and at the moment I'm loving it.

Write a letter to their press office. Send it recorded. You will get a response ;)

forza 3 isn't overly amazing either mate, Im not one of these forza nerds, but do have the luxury of havin both consoles.

GT5 has brought me back to the PS3 which I don't really use much - So that's a positive :)

Got this beast from 35 BHP to 110 ish

Track editor sucks. Can only chose pre-selected corners by choosing how complex you want it to be.

I want a large oval track with a 4 mile straight

I think you would need two 4 mile straights for that to work :D

I'm unsure as to why there isn't a Bonneville flats type option to test out the top speeds of various cars.

Would have been a stand out feature imo.

I was reading the post where the chap said GT4 had better graphics then GT5.

I always thought GT4 had astonishing graphics for a console of such age and power, but GT5 blows GT4 out the water graphically. The replays on GT5 are totally amazing, i've been watching them after each race, and love the way you can view other cars, its been very well done.

GT5 is certainly a very pretty game, amazed anyone can think GT4 looked better..

forza 3 is also not too bad looking, but I dunno, I just think GT5 edges in, replays 100% better then any other racer. they are just so amazing.

and I've mentioned the shadows before, I don't think they're too bad to be honest...

And the karts are 100% fun, and a good source of easy credits..!! lol

More I play GT5 the more I get into this. Its GT, its the same. Gt1, GT2, GT3, GT4 and now GT5 - all the same. Just updated cars, newer tracks, old tracks and HD graphics...

Its worth £34... Heck I/d even buy a PS3 for this now...
