Prices going NORTH!!!! Need some competition here...

Supply and Demand. :(

Also exchange rates are dropping, it was 1.61 and its now reduced too 1.57 this effects pricing badly, just hoping its not on a slippery slope down or otherwise it means come December/January prices will massively go up in the UK, especially with 20% VAT from January 4th.

Get a grip Gibbo, spin it any way you like but come on, 4 cents difference equates to £50 to £100 over rrp, how stupid do you think we are?:(

Actually , with hindsight, dont answer that question.:p

Read my post, I made it clear - SUPPLY AND DEMAND! Whilst stock is short cards will be a good £50 upwards more than they would be if stock was in plentiful supply.

What my point was that 4 cents dollar change, plus VAT at 20% is a good £20 price increase alone. If exchange rates remain poor the only way these cards will drop in price is for stock to become readily available. Which brings us right back to supply and demand.

When there is plenty of stock, we would probably be offering this card for around £425 delivered, until that happens, the lack of supply means higher prices.

And captain complaint steps in to complain.

There is hardly any 580s in the UK. If we sold them for normal pricing they would go instanly and our competition would sell theres for a far higher price.

You clearly do not understand the logisitics of business and what the the term "supoply and demand" mean.

If the demand outweighs the supply, higher prices. Simple. You can go on forever moaning but simply put it you cannot get one anywhere else.

Theres probably a far lot more than you realise, if competitor stock indicators are correct

Not really. Businesses aim to make profit.

And VAT does not effect profit.

This has nothing to do with VAT.

The key word is if. We have the highest allocation of GTX 580s in the UK.

Fact is GTX 580 is in massive constraint, were getting a handful each day, if we price them at £399 we will have 100's of backorders we can't fulfill and as such resulting in lots of customers with no goods and very upset.

The pricing is set due to the lack of supply, the demand is still there and these cards are very hard to come across with stock been so limited. Essentially they are priced so high to slow sales.

The last thing we want to do is slow sales, but at the same time we don't want to sell 100's of cards and be unable to deliver within a timely manner.

I understand supply and demand, if you only have 8 cards, then its reasonable to sell them at whatever price you can get for them. (580's in general, not the superclocked ones)

There are plenty of the cards around though to buy.

Meh! Only one other place has EVGA SC's in stock and the price difference is £20 inc delivery. And that place and this place usually swap price competitiveness regularly.

Stop whingeing every time you see a price somewhere that might be better, just go buy it from there and be happy with yourself like normal people. No one is forcing you to buy from here.

I've matched the other competitors price. :)

Still its extremely expensive for a GTX 580 and when supply is strong I can see them being around £400 mark.

Don't know why people are complaining about the pricing. Its brand new, its limited stock, and its a premium level product of course OCUK are going to try and make a profit on them. The stock levels are so small (10pcs) that I'd bet that OCUK would only make £5-10 profit so they up that to £20-30 to make it worth thier while.

At the end of the day you don't have to buy the card at that price. Their are plenty of cheaper options and competition around that can serve your needs.

Agree i used by loads from here in 2009. Due to competors being cheaper for the goods i wanted i dont think i have shopped here in 2010 but i dont go on every week about it. (monthly maybe :p)
Had high hopes for Payday deals but meh is all.

On topic the 580 will prob be the same price for a while to come, add on the VAT to next year and the time of year i assume supply to go far over demand

VIP on speed dial!

Gibbatron, when do you expect more buddy?
(at these prices, no wonder you can throw £800 at an exhaust)
